needed to rant

Im so fed up with BMW, you cant enjoy these damn cars unless your rich enough to get a new one every 2 years, they spend millions to make "the ultimate driving machine" but cant make the damn things reliable worth a shit

when the fuck a car up, they just change engines(N54/N55)(S54-prior M3 motor) and abandon that particular model and make everyone forget about their screw up with a new pretty one

they nickel and dime every option in the damn car

damn i just want to put a brick on the gas pedal and point it towards the biggest cliff i can find

flame on

Damn, making me think twice now lol. Was going to end up getting one with a decent amount of miles on it, but not knowing how the previous owner(s) drove it could be trouble for me. Been a huge fan of the e46 M myself. Was thinking if the prices drop low enough for them by the time I'm in the market for buying a car I would grab one. I wanted the SMG to, but I know those can go bad pretty quick and cost a decent amount to repair. If they ever come out with the Megacity, just might grab that lol.

If you get an M get a 2003.5 or newer and the 6MT because the SMG can be trouble, but its not just the motor, window regulators, sunroof, seat motors, sensors, water pump, idler pulley, and now i get under the car and see oil build up, and i replaced the valve cover gasket to avoid this issue when it didnt need to be replaced, now im guessing the head gasket is going

the nicer the bimmer, the more shit that goes wrong with it

I've had my e46 for almost 10 years and haven't had a single major problem with it. *knocks on wood*

I won't get into it about the options besides just pointing out that they are, in fact, optional.

People always bitch about BMW's reliability, yet I haven't had one single mechanical issue on my 335 or any BMW I've owned.....And I drive my cars hard as shit.

Although I've had only minor problems with my BMWs I can appreciate your predicament. The only option in your case if you feel so strongly about it is to write a letter to BMW NA explaining why you are abandoning their brand. In the end, the customer has the last word.

Good luck.
