macht snell filter from EAS (great buy!)

I just wanted to thank the guys at EAS for answering all my questions and letting me have a look at their project car. There's some great toys on there.

Also they recommended the Match Snell filter so picked up one from them. The difference is noticeable. Here is my assessment:

- more silky throttle response
- more instantaneous power (feels like about 5 more hp at the wheel)
- meatier power band
- no more restriction at the top (makes you want to rev it higher)

When I pulled out my old filter, I couldn't believe all the leaves/junk that got
stuck on the filter... poor engine couldn't breathe.

The new filter is a great buy,.. even though it's not a huge power gain... the response of the engine is much improved and makes for a better driving experience.

Thanks again to the guys at EAS!

Appreciate the feedback, you couldn't have come in at a better time as we were just in the middle of performing another filter swap on an e92 M3. For others just getting into modding up their M3, the Macht Schnell filter is a great start.

The last M3 before you even had a cigarette butt fall out of the filter during replacement.

You got to see some items we haven't even mentioned yet on our project car, keep posted to our journal thread for more info.

I hate my AFE filter, Ive been trying all kinds of fixes for the rattle sound at low rpm during full throttle and still cannot get rid of it...Does this filter make any abnormal sounds at full throttle? I might be purchasing it.

I haven't heard this "rattling" sound on the afe filter personally, but there are numerous reports of those individuals switching to the Macht Schnell filter and having the issue solved afterwards.

no rattles that I've heard so far.

the sound from the engine seems to be more focused, and more audible.

the car revs much easier and there is better power delivery.

There is an increase in power, I think about 5-10hp.

You can hear the difference if you have the stock exhaust.

Noise yes, but doubtful there is any HP to be gained. The BMW intake system is pretty ridiculous. If they could have added 5 more HP for $5 they would have.

We have the filters in this thread: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=227785

As for scoops, we have the aFe ones or you can get the RPI version. Either one will do the job.

The MS filter has almost double the layers used and a much tighter seal after installation.

Partially correct. The air intake system is very good on the M3, however the filter has much room to gain in the airflow department, namely the charcoal filter which is integrated into the stock paper filter.

The best reviews are from others. There are many great reviews on the MS filters here on the forums, even some upgrading from the aFe filters.
