Due diligence during service (the old DCT issue)
First let me say I love my dealership.
I got my nth car from them last fall, 2011 E92 M3 off the lot. July 2010 build. When I went in for 1200 mile service, I came in with a printout of the Service Information (SI B28 01 10) for the DCT from September 2011. See http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...postcount=1725 However, it did not come up for my car in the computer. I insisted they double-check, but no it did not come up. They suspected the car had already been updated. I tabled the thought, other non-BMW stuff to worry about. I just went in to deal with a hassle with BMW Assist. (The MyInfo is still not working for my car.) This time an SI came up -- the same one. My service advisor did not know why it did not come up before. The dealership had recently replaced their service manager; maybe their computers were not updated with the latest info from BMW? Anyway, it seems it pays to keep track of these things yourself, and not trust their computers to have the latest relevant information. |

This is exactly it. If the dealership does not have the latest software, they can not update your car. The updates the dealerships download are very large. At my dealership its a weekend update and the programmers are down for the weekend.
