Used, you can't get ZCP. I witnessed the same thing, '09 was about $8k less than new. For 2 years' depreciation plus a valuable option you can't get on an '09, buying used was not the economic decision right now. Used cars are at a premium.

Sure, the guy was offered $50k for an '09 in 2010. He'd probably still be offered $50k for an '09 now. Many CPO'd '09's are on lots for mid-50's. 3 months ago, my dealer's best offer on an '09 was $57k. $10k more for ZCP and brand new with an additional 2 year's of maintenance was a no brainer.

Or you can purchase new and pick up in Munich with 1 mile on the odometer

Of course it will already have the exact options/colors you want

Of cours you are right no argument here since my next car will be a ED delivery, I found it so exciting as new owners took delivery of there new ride when I was in München in 2009.

However, once you leave Die Welt after you have taken delivery your car will have depreciated in the neighbourhood of $8K to $10K and then you will have that 5 weeks or so wait until you see it again in Texas

Try doing the same thing with a used car bought from the dealer, you'll still lose a significant amount.

^nope, i think i can still sell my M3 today at the same price I paid for it last year, but that's b/c I got a good deal.

If you don't believe me, then ask anyone in the market for a used M3 if they're willing to put down $46k for a 17k mile E90 with all options expect 19' wheels.

Why don't you just price it out and determine if you want to spend the extra $? Don't forget when buying new you get hit with destination, gas guzzler and some other random charges which obviously don't apply to used. Also, you will be paying taxes on a higher purchase price so that's additional $ out the door. If you spend time on the forums, you can find a good car with the options you want that was well taken care of. Buying used will definitely take much more effort and longer but you can save quite a bit. Good luck with your decision.

I don't care about depreciation hit... To me it's worth it knowing that I'm the first one to touch this car and not have to worry about some strangers nasty prints on everything, boogers, farts, hairs, etc.

Kinda like how i would never buy used clothes or a used shaver...to me, the inside of a car is very personal and i don't want to get in it knowing that someone else has handled it.

So yea, I'd go with new. I don't buy a car hoping that it will increase in value so depreciation is off the list.

there you go, a car is just waiting for you in München at Die Welt ... BTW, unless you been to the factory and seen them being build from the ground up, you will have no idea how many other people have been in your car before it hits the delivery centre ... I will not tell you since it would spoil your expectations

Perhaps you are thinking robots like this ---> I_I----------I_I build your car starting with the wheels ... how many slip in and out from your car before you get it you have to check and find out for yourself, just visit the factory.

I think it all depends on a number factors: money no issue and you wont mind depreciation of a new M3 but get all the options you like or you want to save some money and get a slightly used one(end up trading out some options you may want to have)
If you go the used car I suggest a CPO with longer warranty.

Nothing wrong with CPO. I managed to pick up an 09 E90 M3 23k miles on it as well...loaded for under $54k. Why not do yourself a favor an go used. I too was about to pull the trigger on a new E90, until I found what I have now. Sure, I could have ordered one...y wait. Heck, it was hard enough waiting the 3 days to get it from the dealer. Still under warranty. Will also get the extended warranty. all in all, still less than buying new.

If I hadn't the option for ED on the last two, I'd go used. You can ALWAYS find a good example of what you want.

NEW- (IF YOU PLAN ON KEEPING IT FOR 4 to 5 years-)E92 coupe and know you have one of the last M3's with the fully aspirated V8 and if you start w/Dinan, it is difficult to stop as the coupe with the carbon fiber roof just loves windy roads and dramatic curves- when you can find them. Competition pack. is a blast from a dead stop to hitting curves where the G forces are felt but you are snugged up in your seat and just grinning! Used- you always take the chance the previous owner beat the heck out it and when I trade in a vehicle it is usually for a reason other than just boredom because if my trade is primo, I sell it privately, trade the troubled used vehicle.

New. Compare the engines and options. '11 E92 coupe w/carbon fiber roof, comp pack.,premium pack 2, convenience pack, enhanced sound- 800 watts!! iPhone/IPod option, and any other option i missed. Be specific on the tires as Michelin Pilot Sport PLUS is supposed to be the latest, greatest tire- mine are Pilot Sport's and very sticky, they eat up curves and quick starts off a light without sliding or smoking them up- unless you really want to sit there and over rev and you might get some smoke but not much. MDouble Clutch transmission let's you drive Formula1 style with the paddles behind the wheel, or shift like a standard but without the clutch, or AT and just enjoy the music- and whichever way you go, check out Dinan- sweet exhaust note and 23 extra on the HP and 21 ft. lbs on the torque- if you do middle exhaust to the back and the software uncorks it so if you have a few friends who like heading out around 1 or 2AM to that special stretch of highway where you can let her cross 160 mph- that in itself is worth the cost of the software from Dinan! We are not guaranteed tomorrow nor next month or next year but we are all guaranteed a ticket OUT- buy what YOU REALLY want and spend the $$$ for the Escort 9500ci as it has 2 laser defusers in front and one in the rear, the GPS unit eliminates false X-band alerts after 3 passes of the store setting it off as it memorizes their location, and you need to take your time and find a person who has installed 100+ of them as the finished product is slick and will pay for itself ($1500 or $1600 installed) in less than a year!

That's what SA tells me every single time when i buy a new car. M3 resale value is even worse then a regular 3 series.
