Folks,
I am in the market for buying a brand new Toyota Tundra for my work. Yes, hauling heavy avionic machineries. No, not looking at other pick up trucks out there. The new model 2014 Toyota Tundra is supposedly out by September 2013. Perhaps, fellow forums members can help me making an informed decision with substantive feedbacks. Should I buy the 2013 model or should I wait until the 2014 model is out? Why?Why not? Thank you in advance. |

Before I say anything, I am a Toyota guy at heart.
We bought the original tundra when it came out, then dad bought a double cab in 2003 and he just bought a 2012 Texas edition. We still have the 2003 and it runs fine for its age. I love the power of the 5.7 engine, it's just so effortless. Haven't read much on new 2014, but love it as a refresh, the exterior looks really nice. You could also test drive the Big 3 as they offer good trucks. You can't go wrong with any of these trucks, be it Toyota or a ford. It's just what fits you best. You can prob get a deal on a 2012 or 2013 because the dealers will be trying to get them off their lots to make room for the 2014.

This, if you can wait 6ish months. And with gas prices hitting new highs I have to think truck sales are going to slow again, so good for you as a buyer.

I had a 2007 Ford F-150 and the dealer bought it back due to numerous issues.
I am not sure if I want to gamble with another Big three truck. I test-drove a Nissan Titan and I didn't like it. I am still wondering what the reliability of these trucks on harsh winters with salt and rocks on the roads..... ![]() |

Functionally wise however, the truck hasn't really changed much. It looks much nicer, but the drive-line is mostly the same, save for a new transfer-case that is much more user friendly and helps with towing.... tho the thing could already tow the space shuttle so who cares. Really it was just a refresh and nothing major like the motors or suspension was significantly changed. My job was to make sure the vehicle didn't fall apart and that everything looked and functioned properly, so hopefully I did a good job... |

My next questions will be:
How reliable are those electronic bells and whistles? What brands are those electronic bells and whistles? Is it easy to get parts/replace parts post warranty coverage? Quote:

GO Chevy. My father's chevy is at 200,000+ miles. Only oil changes, tires, and minor maintenance.

Most of the parts come from denso as the supplier. Pretty much everything is sourced from inside the country. Its toyota, I wouldn't worry about reliability.
