Yeah, so the Man Show host Adam Carolla is apparantly gonna be one of the hosts for the US Top Gear show. So ghey imo.

Last Friday, on his nationally syndicated radio show, Carolla hesitantly answered a fan's question during his "How Say You?" segment, announcing that he'd be working on the U.S. version of Top Gear. Carolla describes the show as "a super cool, super-expensive, super high-end car nut show to air on NBC primetime." Shortly after his announcement, Internet message boards showed mixed reaction to the news.

There's been no official word yet from NBC on any of the show's hosts; however, our sources say that Dan Neil, a Pulitzer Prize-winning automotive writer for the Los Angeles Times, will also be part of the show, most likely to add journalistic integrity.

Carolla, known as the Ace Man to his radio fans, is considered by many to be a celebrity car guy. He owns a replica BRE Datsun 510, has competed in the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race in Long Beach and recently broadcasted a NASCAR weekend radio show from the Palms in Las Vegas.

Clearly, Carolla is into cars, but is there room for Top Gear on his already full plate? Here's a breakdown of some his other current projects:

Beginning March 17, Carolla competes on season six of Dancing with the Stars on ABC. He's partnered with Julianne Hough, who won last season's title with racecar driver Helio Castroneves. On March 21, Carolla's movie, The Hammer opens in select cities. The film is a comedy about an amateur boxer, which Carolla co-wrote, co-produced and will no doubt promote. Add to that a regular radio gig, plus Top Gear and Carolla is treading into Ryan Seacrest territory.

Let's hope that if Adam Carolla missteps, it's on Dancing with the Stars and not Top Gear.

this is going to flop. it'll lack the British humor, and the American manufacturers won't be able to handle any criticism of their products.

I know that Adam Corolla is a car guy... I think he has a bunch of old nissan race cars IIRC, but I also think that he's annoying as hell and probably not the best candidate for a top gear host. They should just make Jay Leno host it, at least he knows what he's talking about since he owns just about every car anyway.

Ugh.....I hope they prove me wrong. My expectations are pretty low, although I look forward to watching it.

The problem is that the real Top Gear uses journalist/auto enthusiast for it's show.
The US version will likely hire any celebrity who owns a Ferrari or classic muscle car.

I'll have a tough time taking the guy who provided the comic relief on Loveline as a credible source of car reviews.
