Edmunds vs. KBB
So I am trying to decide if I should go the M3 route. KBB has the cars priced pretty high and Edmunds has the cars priced REALLY low. For instance, a 2008 E90 with 54K miles is pricing at $24.2K on Edmunds. Have you ever had luck getting a car anywhere close to the price that Edmunds quotes?

I don't even bother looking at KBB because I think they price to favor the dealer. They are owned by, I think, Autotrader, also a very dealer dependent company. Edmunds I have used as a starting point and only a starting point.
I prefer to research a car I'm convinced I want to purchase by pricing it nationwide (Autotrader, Carsdotcom,etc.). I concentrate on just this one car. My goal is to know more about the market value of that one car than either KBB or Edmunds. With the M3, price is important but, to me, getting a good used one is much more important. That means spending at least as much time determining how the previous owner(s) treated it as you spend looking at prices. Good luck with it. |
