Is the masking off of the car needed?
I used to mask my car off at the beginning, but then I realized how much of a waste of time it was

check your brake pads, make sure your all your fluids are good, check your tires, etc.

there's a tech check sheet on their website that you can download and go through

I would suggest just going to one and doing what others do. No ebrakes after sessions.

+1

and do not think that putting water on your rotors will 'cool them down'
it'll warp them

after each session, do a small lap around the parking area to further help your car cool down

I liked CVR a lot, but I don't know it well enough to say it's my favorite track as I only went once. It was fun though! even on a 100+ degree day X.x

FUN FUN FUN night. Twilight was sick. It really looked like a Le Mans series track day out there. There were a pair of tracked out Acura ILX sedans that had huge LED light bars across their hood and they were bright as hell on the track. Super fun event at night. Too bad there wasn't a shot of my glowing red stoptechs.... =P

SoW is much better for a lighter vehicle. Our cars are just too heavy, and in stock form just too loose for a tight track like this.

Racing this track at night is nostalgic to me... It just brings me back to my young and dumb canyon drives from 10 years ago. Definitely a completely different experience at night. Also heat soak was not an issue!

Both pretty much equally. Both are technical, momentum-driven tracks. In fact, even the lap times are similar.

Nice. There were shots, just not very good shots. I didn't want to stick around for the few night shots they had on my MINI. I had a very long day even before I got to the track. But either way, it was wicked fun.

I missed the BMW CCA event at Chuckwalla back in March because of work but I'm planning to go out there at the end of the Sept.

Yes - I feel like even my F30 328i base was better at SOW than the M3 (what?!).

Ive done the roval in the e90 and that was fun......going to buttonwillow at the end of the month (previously drove a 135i at buttonwillow).
