I have been going to BMW meets since 2008, I had a chance to drive 2 blown M3s..fast as hell no question..but I didnt care for the the artificial feeling you get with a blown engine..plus a host of other reasons which I won't get into. FYI..just because you like a SC doesnt make it a fact that they are better, your viewpoint is an opinion just the same as mine |

You seem to have a gift for "derailing" threads and making them all about your "opinions". Your opinion on blowers is extremely important to us and I think it would be better if you started a thread about how you feel about blowers, rather than sharing your "off topic" opinions in this thread.

I'm actually curious to know if the added ~100lbs to the front of the car (unbalancing the 50/50 weight distribution) would affect the handling characteristics of the car. Or if anyone would really be able to notice the difference.

I have never really noticed the 50-70 lbs our kits add on the track or street in terms of balance.

Nothing a nice little suspension upgrade/tweak couldn't fix ...but that's for another discussion

im not sc i was refering to feeling the difference in weight due to more or less gas on the track. i was then relating it to a sc that if i can feel it at the rear it should also be felt up front.

oh I miss readed that, anyway, at first I though I felt a bit of a difference in the balance because of the s/c but never got to try a non s/c m3 after so it's hard to tell!

Will the gain in weight offset the handling of the car (50/50 weight distribution)? If so, is there a way to lessen the weight of the front, like carbon fiber hood?

The hood is already light aluminum. You could run lighter front brakes. Lighter wheels are great but you would have them in the rear as well so no change in FR to RR from them. Coilovers might offer a small savings but the stock front struts are already aluminum bodied. I would not worry about the added weight.

The coupe is 52/48 with most of its front weight being on the side of the Super charger. Adding more will not only negatively effect the F/R but also L/R side. Unless you're tracking the car you probably won't feel a measurable difference though

I can attest that on a street driven car the extra weight over the nose is only slightly noticeable. Having owned many high performance cars driven only on the street the pros far exceed the cons. These cars need a little bump in power to be on par with the power cars are making today. I actually passed on a bone stock E92 M3 because I was underwhelmed by the power (flame suit on). This is until I found an even nicer example with everything done (see sig).
