Which Blue?
I am about to order a 2010 M3. I had decided to go SG, but I am now leaning towards one of the blues. My current car is a 330i in Mystice Blue. The car before that was totalled, and I needed this car asap. It was the only one around that had stick and sports package. I wasn't thrilled about the color, but I could live with it. After a few weeks, I decided it was not bad. A few weeks later, I affirmatively liked it. It continues to grow on me.
Are either of the M blues like Mystic? None of the dealerships nearby has either color right now, and it is hard to tell from the catalog and in pictures here. How to decide between the two blues (and SG for that matter)? Thanks |

Neither of the two blues are like Mystic. Le Mans is probably closer than Interlagos, but neither is really like Mystic at all. Have you checked them in person? I would go do that if you have not. Some people prefer LeMans because it does not have the purple undertones. I personally like them both.
Keep in mind Jerez black is actually a very deep blue color also. And there's also the Monte Carlo Blue "Edition", but that isn't coming to the US, apparently (and unfortunately, because it looks great from the pic). Just curious is your 330i an E90 or E46? |

I think it is an E90. I got it right as it came into the country in July 2006. |

Picking the color is one of the toughest choices to make on this car... but I would go for "Le Mans"... even the name sounds cool!!

As has been previously mentioned, it just depends on if you like the purple contained in IB.
Personally, I choose LMB and couldn't be happier. It's a beautiful color.

I searched all the nearby dealers for a car with IB so i could get a good look at it. I liked it both in the shade and in the sun. I have still never knowingly seen a LeMans Blue car in person. SG was also at the top of my list, I had seen several SG cars in Toronto and I knew I liked it. Melbourne Red is also awesome, but I always tell myself I won't own a red car till I can afford a Ferrari.
What I ended up doing to finally decide on the colour was I turned on Grand Turismo 5 Prologue (Playstation 3 car racing game if you don't know) and went to the purchase car screen selected the M3 and looked at each colour 2 or 3 times. When I looked at Space Grey I thought, 'that looks great'. When I looked at LeMans blue I thought "awesome", but when I looked at IB I had a visceral reaction to it, I got a chill up my spine like you do when a favorite song you haven't heard for a while comes on the radio. That's how I knew what to get. From what I've seen of IB I can't see any Purple colouration, maybe I'm a bit colour blind or haven't seen it in the precise lighting conditions or whatever but I love it!

Check my thread out. I have plenty of pics posted that will give you a very good idea of how Interlagos Blue is. It's a very emotional color. Here's the link: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=281344

A few members (off the top of my head, Epacy and Monster, for example) have some pics of their IB cars that really captured the vibrancy and depth of the color. None of them prepared me for seeing IB in real life. It is a stunning color, and is much more of a chameleon than LMB. In daylight, IB looks exhilerating and alive. At night or in the shadows, it looks very deep and classy.
LMB is more of a "solid" blue -- it doesn't pop as much in the direct sunlight or change as much in different lighting scenarios. LMB also has a slightly lighter hue than IB. You really can't go wrong either way, but the IB really grabbed me as soon as I saw it.

Le mans is a stellar color. LIke one of the members mentioned, it is bright in the sun, which makes it an eye catching color.

Actually Estoril is the emotional color! Too bad we don't have that choice. Nawaaz' Interlagos Blue is great if you like the hint of purple, my Le Mans Blue is great if you like a "true" blue. I drove 120 miles roundtrip just to see both of them in the flesh before I made my choice. Chances are you won't be disappointed either way. |

Interlagos, because it's a M only colour.
