A Testimonial to the Comradery of our Fellowship

I was on my way to meet my girlfriend as she was picking up dinner from a restaurant in my neighborhood. I was stressed from a hard day at work but as I am driving through the parking area adjacent to the restaurant, I notice a brand new AW e92 with FR interior. Walking towards the car was a young guy with his wife and 4 year old son. As he is getting into the car I yell, "nice car man---I'm still waiting for mine". After he stops and we talk about the car for awhile, he says 'get in and rev the engine so you could hear how beautiful it sounds'. I entered the drivers seat with his son sitting in the seat behind me and his wife next to me. As I rev the engine (keeping it under 5000 of course), I feel at peace. What a sound! I thanked this gentleman for making my week and we parted. I'm sure that he got hell from his wife that night for letting a stranger into his car, but as fans we were brothers.
I thought that was the kindest act that any man could perform. If he's a member of this forum and happens to read this, to one M3 fan to another-----thanks again.

Wow, very trusting individual. I would not have hesitated much to let someone rev the motor I suppose, but I don't think I'd let him in the drivers seat with wife and kids in the car. But luckily your not some psycho, so there was really no risk.

I agree, very trusting. It's a shame the world is the way it is now but that's how it should be from one BMW fanatic to another. Great story!

Great story...

It reminds me of a similar act of kindness back in the beginning of March when Xcellere allowed some of the brethren on this forum to visit and share in the delivery of his new baby, one of the first M3's on the west coast.

It almost brought tears to my eyes, just reading this...

Thanks for sharing OP.

As wiser heads have stated, it's either a testimonial to comradery, idiocy or just plain lunacy. It's like a microcosm of everything that occurs on this forum...

Nice story, cool guy. Actually in all honesty, no BS, I would let him rev my car too. I have a person whom I have known in my gym for over 10+ years, and he is a HUGE porsche guy, let me go around the block in his Porsche Caymann, and I let him (about 2 weeks ago) go around the same block (bastard went 2 times around the block, But i told him too haha, I went only once in his car) in my '08 e90 m3.

Just a car man, if you can share the love, why not?

I'm glad to hear there is a camradery among m3 owners. As a former 911 owner (91 930 Turbo and 2002 996) I wasn't sure this exhisted in the m3 community. Most 911 owners always wave to one another in passing. I hope this continues with the m3.

Probably not too big a concern though - I free-rev mine to 7K+ for engine-braking in first and second all the time.
