Extreme Performance Summer Tires?
Looking up some new tires for a new set of wheels ... came across the Bridgestone Potenza RE-11, which is classified as Extreme, at around $1.1k a set.
Question is, since the RE-11 is classified as Extreme Performance, a level higher than PS2's Max Performance, does it provide better performance at a cheaper price? Also 305/30/19 on ET 28 10.5" wheels should clear the rear right? Thanks! |

The wheels should clear no problem. I have Nitto Invo 305/30's on my M3, and they fit perfectly.

umh, bargain in comparison to Pirelli PZeros in Canada (255/35/19 and 295/30/19) at $1800 CDN from 1010tires. That's about $1440US.

RE-011 - 180 PZero - 220 PS2 - 240 Factoring the wear rating with cost will give a better idea.

Also, according to tire rack, the rating system could be very subjective depending on the manufacturer. |

UTQG - 80!!
Fine for a dry HPDE tire, but not practical for the street, unless you can afford to replace them every 3 months.

Or if you have a CSL which comes standard with PSCs! I think in the UK E92 w/ 19" wheels come with PSCs as well... I guess if you can afford an M3 with all the taxes in the UK they assume you'll afford tires!

I'd get a set of the RE-11. My friend had RE01R on his Z4M Roadster which were amazing, and the RE11 are the generation after.
I just ordered a set of PSC+ (that plus means BMW OE and that they are slightly less prone to hydroplaning), but I would have definitely gotten the RE11 if they were available for the EU market.

should be a good tire choice but youre going to give up a lot of treadwear... as long as thats not a problem i think this is a good choice. also youre right bout PSCs, they wear out way too quickly and are worthless in the rain.

I assume these compete with the NT-05's?

Last I checked, the PS2 was the best "extreme summer performance" tire shy of R-comps. If you aren't going R-compound, pony up for the PS2s.
