Adaptive Headlight Control Malfunction

Hey guys - I recently purchased a BMW M3 E92 2013 from an Audi dealership and they replaced the front left headlight control module; however, they did not have the BMW software to reprogram it. As a result, I receive an adaptive headlight error every time I operate the vehicle.

I've been researching various programming tools and came across Carly and Reinhgold products for example. Would the Carly app be able to fix this issue? Or how should I proceed here DIY of course.

Also, how do I know if the car needs to be re-programmed/calibrated after I service it? I plan to change the differential fluid; transmission fluid; replace the air filter; and replace the drive belts and install a power pulley. Do any of these require the car to be programmed?

Thanks all!

Carly for BMW can not reprogram the headlight control module. Rheingold software should be able to do it, but Ive never used it so maybe someone else can confirm. Carly has more simple functions, such as reading/erasing fault codes, and some common coding.

I believe none of the services you mentioned need any reset/program because they are not monitored by the computer. Service Reminders need to be reset for things such as engine oil, brake pads, brake fluid, etc. These are just reminders and can be reset using a 'hidden' menu in the cluster, the procedure is listed on here somewhere.

When replacing the battery, a 'registration' is suggested, as the life of your new battery will be shortened if not done. Carly has the ability to do this.

Shouldn't your Audi dealership be responsible to get the headlight warning removed?

You need a new module and have it reprogrammed using BMW ISTA-P or NCSExpert. I doubt CARLY could do it. The module fails if moisture gets into the headlight system.
