boxter spyder = no
new boxter s = yes

any modern vert with a manual roof that takes 5 minutes to put on is simply stupid IMO. by the time you done, your car is flood damage.

agree that new boxster is a large leap forward in terms of the total package

boxster spyder is probably still going to be unique and tactile considering it's a hydraulic steering porsche

So at the moment I'm considering a silver 996 GT3 or a super clean yellow 996 C4S I found. Aesthetically I think the C4S is the best looking and probably the best to live with, not to mention it's cheaper by $10k. But there's something special about the GT3! I only go to the track maybe 3 times a year so right now I'm leaning more towards the C4S.
Yes I know these cars are downgrades from an e92 m3 but I have a 2012 audi A3 as a company car and i want a weekend car that is more involving not necessarily faster.
Huh? GT3 is def an upgrade to the M3 in terms of performance and dynamics even if its a close to 10 year old 996 which is such an amazing driving machine. Only thing you get in the M3 is more space.

the 996 gt3 looks (both exterior/interior) rather dated compare to the new m3. so I can clearly see why someone would say the 996 gt3 is a downgrade. remember people buy car for the total package, not just certain specific performance/dynamic.

for example, if I'm going to spend 60-70k with my hard earned money. I want performance, tech, comfort, space, crash test safety, and modern look. the m3 meet all these criteria. the 996 gt3 doesn't. it is a down grade IMO.

Yes, its a close to 10 year old car. Just as an e46 m3 look very old too at this point.
My point was focused more on the performance and handling and driving is a big upgrade over the e9x m3.
Giving up the back seat and space are obvious in that youre moving from a luxo gt sporty car to a hardcore sports car. 996 gt3 doesnt even have abs or traction control.

Several other track rats I know all say that the 996 gt3 has the best steering feel out of all of the gt3/rs cars. Now that doesn't make it the best of them all, but it shouldn't be lumped in with the other 996 cars.
