Please explain "ricky racer". Have never heard that term. I have heard "rice rocket", or "boy racer" but that describes the Subaru Sti type of cars. The M3 is in the class of car that is the "small high-performance luxury car". Other cars in its class are the RS4, RS5, C63, IS-F. That's about all. The Panamera GTS and CLS 63 are much larger vehicles and a different type of car altogether. Also, if you are looking at the Panny GTS, why not look the M5? You will get Panamera turbo performance at the price of a well equipped Panamera V6. If you want a higher-end M3 replacement, look at the Aston Martin Vantage.

I don't think I will ever grow out of an M3. I plan to be a grandpa and still enjoy it.

I plan to add a M5 to the stable next year. If you think M3 is to "Ricky racer" car than move up to the M5 or M6.

I do agree the porsche looks amazing I still would take a hard look at the M5 and M6 before doing the jump.

Best of luck either way.

Good points....on paper, the M5 looks amazing. however, visually, it does not really do it for me. Plus, the M6 , in my opinion, is not much more than a 2-seater.

yes, my business partner has the R8 with the Stasis Supercharger package....damn, that car is fast and beautiful!

The search continues.....

So do you need 4 seats and/or four doors or does it not really matter? Also, do you have a maximum price in mind?

sure there are many kids that are taken care of by their parents and they get whatever they would like.

my reason for replying to this thread is because i started working when i was 15, never got anything for free from family, always worked hard for everything i own today.

when i was 20 i bought my first bmw, a 335i coupe, at 22 i got my m3..

through a lot of hard work, stress, and sometimes wanting to give up, i kept pushing through to achieve all my goals.

funny story, i was at starbucks one time and i had parked right in front of the front door, so everyone was just looking at me get out of the car, as i walk in i order a passion tea or whatever it was. As I'm leaving and about to jump back into my car, an older man maybe in his late 40s come up to me and says, " hey son, thats a beautiful bummer, what year is it?" so i told him at the end, he was like "your a very luck man, your parents must do well"

so all in all, things don't happen by accident, they happen by design. Don't pre judge.

I don't want to say, and I don't want to know.

Got nothing to hide, but I also don't see the point. I try to act/dress age appropriate, but I don't let age keep me from doing what I want. Not that I'm exactly ancient, but just replying to OP's concern.

And if you really want to know whether the M3 is a midlife crisis car, you should have sub-divided the poll into more categories.

Have two young kids, and even though not frequent, I do need the abillity to put 1-2 in the back seats. Considering the new 911 cabriolet, but already had a 997S, and the car was just too small for me. Budgetwise, hoping to stay under $150K

So Cole likes 4 seat cars and class. I would recommend a look at a Maserati Quattroporte or Aston Martin Rapide. I still say you should go with the CLS63. It will be everything you want and so much more, plus you save yourself about $35k (with the performance package and 100% full loaded it is $115k) and you can get a tune for about $5k to make it Lamborghini Gallardo fast.

Hmmm...curious. Can you drive your M3 to a UAW plant without fear of someone keying it? I know back in the 80s it was an issue but wonder if things have changed for the better by now?

Thanks...completely agree with you re: the CLS. I loves me the Maserati Q, but am VERY concerned about maintainence / quality issues as a DD. I looked at the Rapide...gorgeous car, but a) same maintenance concerns, and b) those rear seats were simply toe weird for me...like mini cockpits. The CLS is absolutely stunning, solid Merc build, etc curious, what kind of tune are you referring to? I always lease my cars, since can run throygh my business. Added some Dinan goodies to my M3, since BMW supports them. Is the tune you are refering to something that MBUSA will not take issue with?

If the wings are moving faster than the fuselage. It's a helicopter. Therefore unsafe. Lol. Just kidding.

Seahawk's a nice airframe.
