Las Vegas Ferrari Trip!!! (other exotics as well)

As featured on M3POST HOMEPAGE.

Alright, My dad and I do this drive with a Ferrari group every 6 months. Last time I took my dads M6 Cab. This time I took my own E90 M3. The trip was amazing, some really awesome roads and drives. I took some videos but not many pictures this time.

Lets start with our trip from Auto Gallery Calabasas to Ontario. 5 of us hit a metal ladder on the freeway about 30 minutes from our meet up in Ontario. Everyone seemed fine, and no body damage to speak of. Well after breakfast we saw the damage. My dads F430 had a dead front tire, and I had a decent bubble in my front tire. Not a good start to the trip. Well Auto gallery sponsors the drive and brings a Porche SUV with some spare wheels and tires in it. Sure enough he had the wheel and tire for my dads Ferrari. I wasent as lucky. I had to drive on my tire till Vegas.

Bubble

On the way to Vegas we stopped at the Spring Mountain Club in Pahrump, NV. The drive up there was mind blowing and horrible all at the same time. It was very windy and there was sand and small rocks all over the road. The front of my car is pretty messed up and I now wish I clearbra'd the whole front of the car.

This place is amazing. Its a country club for Racing. They currently have two tracks, one just over a mile and one over two miles. There is a pool, jacuzzi, Spa rooms, Condos, Garages, a dining room with 11 flat screen TV's and a firepit outside. This is one serious country club.

They are also building a third 3 mile track, a drag strip/runway, helicopter pad, lake for wakeboarding, and a karting track.

I know I would want to go there with my family for the week!

So we got to take a parade lap around both tracks, got a tour of the facilities and then eat some lunch in the dining room. the owner John is one class act! After we ate he says, Who wants to put on some helmets and do some real laps!

It was unexpected, but I coulden't pass up the chance. Unfortunately my FLIP was acting up during the fast laps but worked fine on the earlier parade lap. The lapping was amazing. I had a CLK63 Black series in front of me and I was on his ass the whole time. While he was struggling to keep traction I was just pulling around the turns! The M was incredible.

Anyway, here is the video of the parade lap.

[u2b]<object width="1280" height="745"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BFdSGiMVAVk&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0 x999999&hd=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BFdSGiMVAVk&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0 x999999&hd=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="1280" height="745"></embed></object>[/u2b]

After the race track it was off to Vegas. Some of these roads were the longest and straightest roads I have ever seen.

So we get to the Encore and I start the search for a tire. on the way up I called Desert BMW to see if they can help and I was amazed to find that they really didnt care to help too much. Didn't even call me back. Well I also called Wynn Penske Ferrari, they called every place in Vegas and no had a PS2 in my size. They told me they had a Pilot Sport, but not a PS2. I myself also called a bunch of places and no luck.

So I had to sit out the next day of driving as I realized it was pretty stupid to do what I did on the tire that day. So that next day I rode with my dad in the F430. We went to the Lake Mead National Park. Heres a video of that day.

[u2b]<object width="1280" height="745"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ydDLy-G8lwA&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x99999 9&hd=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ydDLy-G8lwA&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x99999 9&hd=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="1280" height="745"></embed></object>[/u2b]

Fun beautiful day. At lunch after that drive my dad says to me, "lets go check out that Pilot sport at the Ferrari dealership, were all going there to drop our cars for a wash anyway. I have had some confusion in the past with PS2's and Pilot Sports". So we eat lunch and head over to the Wynn. They pull the "Pilot Sport" off the rack and sure enough its a PS2!!! Only way you can tell is this tiny marking under the label on the tire. They checked my wheel and it was good, so I got all fixed up and my car washed.

Next day 4 of us decided to go up Mt Charleston. Another awesome drive! Snow everywhere. Heres a few pics and a video of this drive.

[u2b]<object width="1280" height="745"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KGa-qCyn5gQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999 999&hd=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KGa-qCyn5gQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999 999&hd=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="1280" height="745"></embed></object>[/u2b]

On the way back on a really long stretch of freeway we got to have some fun. I ran my buddies dad in his 2006 Carerra S Cab. The results were as expected. Sorry for the $hitty video, I was a lone in the car and coulden't get it set up right. As you can see I also didnt hit the gas right away as I was working on the windows when he started it. I was still putting up my back windows.

[u2b]<object width="1280" height="745"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/SgbDjUHIvXQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0 x999999&hd=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/SgbDjUHIvXQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0 x999999&hd=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="1280" height="745"></embed></object>[/u2b]

It was an awesome trip as always, this time no tickets and no one even got pulled over.

Nice trip, looks like a lot of fun. Indeed the E9x is fast, with a competent driver, which I have yet to see. I was just at Willow Springs 2 weeks ago and there was an E90 M3 there, in the high Intermediate class. Long story short, guy can't drive, spun out way too many times. I did fairly okay, the E9x did surprise me as I had no problem passing 997 turbos and vishnu tuned 135s.
