I actually had a same convo with my mother today. She heard it from mechanics, and I told em that it won't make a difference. I think mechanic tries to tell them about vapor argument. We all know that it is pressured. Only benefit from having a full tank of gas is (as you mentioned) less trip to the gas station.
It actually saves me money. I simply drive less , and make un-necessary trips. I tend to plan it. I fill it up at local gas station at the supermarket/walmart. Fill up when I go grocery every week. Quote:
