Can you recommend a shop to take my ///M for wheel alignment in Sydney? (Ryde, Lane Cove area) Would like to take it to a knowledgeable shop to get it aligned after the lowering springs settle. cheers..

I just had the WRX done at Goodyear tyres on Waltham st in Artarmon and they did a great job. Really nice guys and they asked if I wanted them to test drive, did I want to come along, etc
They do a lot of the alignments for a friend of mine that works at Sydney City Prestige, they do most of the cars that come out of there, think McLarens, Rolls', Ferrari, etc Hope this helps, Craig * edit * Are you another Lane Cove local? I think there are 3 of us on here nowadays |

Bit out of the way but hands down you will not get a better wheel alignment in Sydney then from Heasman Steering & Suspension at 455-463 Princes Highway, Sydenham NSW 2044
I'm one of three in Lane Cove |

Have made an appointment at Atarmon Goodyear tyre shop for tomorrow morning. Hopefully they will do a good job. If not I now have other places I can take the ///M to. |

Hi,
My first post ever on here I'm in Perth, so can't comment on a Sydney specific best place. Generally I have had my cars to specialist suspension places, not to tyre shops. The personnel on some of the tyre places worries me, and generally the expertise should be higher at a specialist suspension shop. Two of the places I have been has been Pedders, and the task has been first alignment after major panel beating. Great work at both occasions. Cheers, |

For Atarmon Goodyear shop, I cannot really recommend to anyone from my experience this morning. The shop refused to carry out alignment because my tyres are running low on tread. One of the tyre is quiet low on the inside edge. They try to offer tyre replacements and will only do the alignment with new tyres Someone ask what system this shop is running for alignment.. I saw the brand 'Eagle SMF' logo on the machine.. Oh well, will have to try another place. |

I haven't come across that situation yet as I'm usually buying tyres from them at the same time. Craig |

It's quite costly to calibrate a wheel alignment machine.
Then imagine what happens when one of the wheel units by accident drop down and hit the ground.. Mirrors / lasers etc. are no longer calibrated, and the whole machine could be degrees off. I also find that the specialist suspension places has other fancy equipment, such as they will first weigh the car in all 4 corners, to determine that all springs are not damaged. (equal weight on each side). While they are at it, they may also run a shock absorber test. If you have non-standard offset, such as spacers on the rear wheels, that may need to be entered manually in the computer before the alignment. Then there are different ways of doing the adjustments. A tyre shop may just do a quick toe-in correction, while a specialist shop hopefully will take the time to correct any other angles that are not ideal, and may have good advice for custom settings to achieve a particular steering response, or track handling improvement. Cheers, |
