Shop for SC Install

I've recently purchased a VF-540 SC kit (non-intercooled).

Wondering if anyone has any shop recommendations?

Considering doing it myself but a friend on the west coast said they paid 800 for an install. For that price I might as well go to a shop. Doubt we have anyone charging that low in the DMV though.

Also open to forum members with experience installing these kits if they're interested in the job.

Try Prestige Auto Solutions up in Gaithersburg. He does all the work on mine (not Supercharged), but I know he owns a Supercharged E9x.

RRT in Sterling does a lot of SC installs on BMWs. They’re very reputable and honest.

Appreciate the recommendations! Will be calling around for more qoutes this evening. So far everyone is saying 1500-2000. Might just take my time and diy it.

That's a lot of $ for a relatively simple procedure especially since it isn't a water cooled kit. Is it new or used? If it's used, I'd recommend having the injectors cleaned and tested and orings replaced. Then I'd recommend you tackle it yourself.

Agree with you 100%. Thinking the pricing is because they haven't done an install in some time. The DIY doesn't seem too out of my wheelhouse. Leaning towards a diy.

Used kit.

Noted on the injectors. Do you have a service you've used in the past you recommend?

I used a local service to me, Dr. Injector. There is some Mail in service providers. I can't recommend any but maybe a google search will give you some reviews and prices. I paid about $200.

Have you replaced your rod bearings yet? I would say that is a must on the S65 motor prior to a SC install.

Yessir RB done about 10k miles ago, ta's, etc. I am concerned about the mileage though, which is why I opted for the lowest power kit I could find. Car's at 145k miles.

Dang man, I was writing off a SC kit because I'm at 148k, but you got me reconsidering that now lol!

I'm right there with you. While I want some more power, I'm not sure the risks (blown engine) outweigh the benefits of the SC.

Can't find to many post of high mileage SC'd cars either.

I'm going back and forth internally on install sc vs leave it fbo e85.

that's good. with the smaller SC you should be good, just do oil checks with someone like Blackstone.
