Converting E92 to M3..???
Hi, I just decide to register my own accout here which actually I have read this forum for a while. I am from Thailand... Sorry for my lack of eng's gramma...
I got some questions to ask... If I want to convert my 325ci to M3 by remove those 325ci 's aeroparts and replace it with M3's front bumper, side skirts, fenders, wheels, rear spoiler, side morrors and the carbon fiber thing that cover the engine (don't know what is call in Eng).... Would this changes make my 325ci look 10000% exactly as Bmw m3 for the external appearance?? I acutally just want to know that "do 325ci and M3's car specification scales are exactly one-hundred % the same? Still waiting for my 325ci to arrive in a month or two.. so excited... can't wait anymore... _________________________ Last edited by glorysalapao; 08-17-2008 at 08:07 AM.. |

I think the dimensions of the car are slightly different and not to sure how the different body panels would fit. I do recall the e46 and the e46 M3 shared the same shape but much different mechanics underneath! That's why the M division call's them M cars.
My advise sell he 325ci and just buy an M3; otherwise you'll still be missing all the essential soul of the car that BMW made.

Perhaps it would work out much differently financially in Thailand.... maybe and M3 costs considerably more than 325ci there?.... but at least in most markets including the US, I think it would be cheaper and more feasible to buy an M3 outright instead of buying a 325ci then buying all the panels and paying for labor for paint, installation, and the custom bodywork required to make the body conversion alone? Doesn't make sense. Am I missing something?

first of all, I look through the webboard again and I found that the picture I had photoshop is "BMW-M-Mexico log in" 's. So I am really sorry for this. (If you don't like this, you may tell me to remove and delete it... )
secondly, Thailand's tax price for importing car is very very very high. As for calculating... (the price x 3.85 = the price I have to pay for the car) which mean, I can buy almost 4 of 325ci in other country to buy onely one here in Thailand. that's mean the price I buy for 325ci here is even more expensive than buying m3 in other country. |

If you want to put a M3 body kit onto a normal e92 chassis you can. But you will be met with a lot of resistance of every kind from BMW enthusiasts (99% of this site) and even more by current M3 owners. While your situation is unfortunate with all the taxes, most will say that this doesn't warrant someone to put on a complete facade and make their car look exactly like an M. It's considers quite taboo. But you can do it. You will have to replace everybody body panel EXCEPT for the trunk and the doors I believe. So that is all but 2 pieces. You should think twice before going through with this though.

A few comments:
- at the end of the cars' brochures, you get some basic dimensions specs of the various cars, so that will give you a basic idea of how the models compare. - more than 70% of the parts of a M car are different from the regular versions so you will have to make a lot of modifs to "transform" your car - why don't you simply install the accesories available for your car? As you will see with less diplomatic forum members, to people who are passionate about the Motorsport division in particular, or simply passionate about cars in general, it simply does not make sense to have a car whose look is deceiving compared to what its real performances are... so do not really expect a lot of support for your idea of tuning a 325CI (a nice car by all means!) into a M3. - lastly, we all understand that the various local markets are not all as favorable as the one in the US, but in the end, even in the US the car is not inexpensive. Many people can surely afford this car easily (especially with no wife or kids ), but many people save their money for years in order to achieve their dream. May I recommend that you save all your money so that one day in the future you can also access your dream? Just my 2 cent. Have a great week.

yap, this is actually my first ride here because I am going to turn 18 years old next mouth. In Thailand, in order to have driving license, you must be 18 years old or more.
Here, people convert 320ci 325ci 330ci into m3 normally (but all I want to know by this post is that will by 325ci will exactly look the same as M3 if I change all those parts). I think only 5 real M3 are driving on Thailand's road. My mom's carrera and dad's 355 pony << people here prefer these supercar than m3 because its really look unique to drive here which the price are about the same as m3 or just little higher. Please don't say this idea of modifying my car is resistance and taboo because the price I buy 325ci is even more expensive to buy M3 in US I guess. I am not trying to argue with anyone, but I want people in this site to understand the financial problem and the way I love m3's design but couldn't efford one. Ok, this thread should probably be locked. I see nothing good coming out of it.
Some people are 'ok' with living a lie and giving false impressions I guess. Just don't act like a tough guy and try to race someone and lose... horribly.

^ Yea right, I start the topic politely, gently and end up like this? So, thats mean people who love the look of m3 but can't afford one are unable to do so? Is it that wrong to be say bad about? Even just make it look the way m3 be?? << This call a lie?? live a lie?? I think there are much more problem and lie in people's life to be say about. This is just a car man!! Iife must go on, not just to be argue about this kind of kiddy topic. I am just 17 years old and I think I can figure it out the word "lie". What actually make the different between .... want it to look cool as m3 .... and make people think it is expensive?? My point is that... I just love the way m3 look not because its price... But I am not rich enough to get one ... so I just buy one nice car call 325ci and modify it to the car I actually love. If you guys think this is so wrong.. just wait for God to judge it. After spending some time in Thailand last year, a 325 must be the most baller shit ever! Beautiful country, not really big on high end cars.
glorysalapao, do whatever you want mate. The hood, front fenders, front bumper should bolt right up. Rear fenders and bumpers are going to take a lot of bodywork, to be honest I'd just do something aftermarket on the rear, get the fenders rolled and you should be pretty happy |
