Mercedes E300 Throttle Slow?

Hey guys,

My dad just bought a loaded MB E300 () and I got to drive it around for a couple of hours today. The thing is very nicely built; smooth cabin, luxurious, and really does what Mercedes wants the car to do well. (Obviously doesn't interest us BMW/Performance enthusiasts too much, but it's the right car for him...I guess.

Anyhow, question is, the car's throttle response seems slow. I'm not talking about it's engine not being powerful enough, I'm talking about the time it takes for the RPM to rev up and the car to start accelerating when you tap the pedal. There seems to be a 1-second (not exaggerated) delay from when you tap (or press) the pedal until the car understands you want it to move, and the RPM starts to rise.

Again, I'm not saying the engine is underpowered; it's just that the RPM takes a good second to start increasing. I know these cars' pedals are electronically controlled (as with any other new car) so I'm thinking could there be an electrical issue with it? (software...)?

Thanks for your help! ... I couldn't find a good solid MB forum so I just decided to post here instead...

Do you mean an E350? In any case these cars aren't exactly barn burners. It's probably pushing close to 2 tons with about 260 hp. A rocketship it's not. They're luxo-barges for old guys. Tell your dad he should have got an Alpina.

Haha Aplina!! I'll do that. Sad thing is, he likes the car A LOT. Gone are the days that he used to love 3ers

I've driven old Bimmers that had low horsepower for their weight, even a 2.5i X3 is fine, but this car lags for some reason - I guess it's gotta be the badge.

It is the badge... Especially if it is auto transmission,
Apparently the new 7 speed transmission is better
