Awesome! Is it close to sounding like a CSL?

I wanna buy an E46 M3 just so I can put the CSL intake on it. I got to hear one in Germany and its sounds FANTASTIC!

Yup it is nearly identical to the CSL actually. I think the Evolve CF Airbox has a little bit of a deeper and beefier tone to it, possibly because of the ducting.

You should REALLY buy an E46 M3. Evolve has been tuning a ton of AlphaN S54B32 with various CF Airboxes ranging from OE CSL to their own to replicas.

Induction noise is out of this world and addicting.

Here's an older video I made, but the quality is rather poor.

Flip... that intake is BADASS. Hearing that makes me want to get another E46.

Puts the GruppeM to shame. Nice work

Thanks guys and sorry for the slight thread jack! The CF really adds such a unique type of resonance that simply cannot be reciprocated by other intakes.

I would LOVE to see a S65B40 with a full CF intake and manifold/plenum. I imagine it to be out of this world....hopefully the price tag won't be so much

I really wanted the GruppeM at one point, until I found out that Evolve Automotive were one of the best at making a reliable AlphaN tunes for the E46 M3. That seriously shined a big light in my eyes when I realized that getting a CF Airbox would be very realistic for my daily driven car.

Would love to hear, without specifics, what improvements over stock is made with an aftermarket airbox, especially considering it looks like the charge pipe/elbow is remained stock. I just can't see where there is room for improvement on the box itself. Even down to the ridges on the inner box itself is oriented in a way to direct flow to the filter. I understand a high-flow filter has benefit but I would love to hear conceptually what was improved with this box.

Just hard to believe 8 whp which is close to going catless (well half) which seems hard to believe

I think this mod is really more for the sound than the power gain. Their full intake for the e46 M3 sounds insane. One of the best sounding cars I have heard. I am tempted to go buy an e46 M3 and put their intake on it just because I liked the sound so much.

Well on the front page they advertise all the dyno gains of 7 or 8 whp and this is what I am asking. How do you get 8whp from a intake on this car with no change in the elbow which other intakes seem to change.

Keep in mind that original post was from 2009... Most of the power is probably from swapping out the filter.

Ok that makes much more sense. Really can't see how changing that intake box would do anything but that explains it
