Exactly.

And they're doing just fine with their target audience.

Not a Lexus fan, and I don't think I would buy the car if I had a bunch of millions lying around, but I really can't say for sure, as it's only hypothetical. Honestly, the opinion of us "common folk" about this car is completely irrelevant anyway.

Even at that price, Lexus is still losing money for every car they sell....is where the fail is at.

Not a big lexus fan but if I had a few million to spare, I'd get one cause it looks cool.

If it improves the brand image, which I'm sure it would, It will be more effective than spending money on advertising. Also, I'm sure that a lot of the tech used to build the LFA will be used on other L-Tuned cars in the future. Toyota is not a company that usually plans to make something to lose money.

Actually I think the fail is mass marketing a supercar. I mean, a billboard? Seriously?

I think traditionally, Lexus has been viewed as a company that sold "pimped out" toyotas. Even though that it isn't true anymore I believe a lot of ignorant people automatically rule out lexus cars because of this. Having a supercar and blowing it up all over the air certainly adds a sense of "class" and "superiority" to their whole car line which could show some of the ignorant people that lexus cars have progressed to something respectable and classy.

Arizona doesn't think Lexus can compete with the European automakers...go figure.

I was actually intrigued by this car and it really turned my head!

SO I went to the Lexus website and was actually saying to myself WOW not a bad ride, I can order it in Pink, Purple, Aqua, or about 30 other colors.. Ohh and Alcantara is an option!! WOO HOO!

I was thinking as many times I saw this car on a commercial on cable TV it would prob run around $100,000 to $120,000..

Then I got to the price and I LOL'd hard.....

4.8L V10 552hp
9000 max RPM
202mph top speed
Starting at $375,000

Starting at $375,000???

Starting at $375,000???????

STARTING AT $375,000!!!!!!! LMAO

Now I am not hating on Lexus owners here but hear me out on this..

Why would anyone pay $375k for this car when you can get a BRAND NEW Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari, etc for less??

I swear Lexus has gone bonkers.. This car is no where near a Lambo, Porsche, Or Ferrari...

BRAND NEW Prices Below (all are starting base prices)

2011 Lexus LFA - $375,000
2010 Lambo Gallardo - $221,000
2010 Lambo Murcielago - $354,000
2009 Ferrari 599 - $320,580
2009 Ferrari F430 - $218,310
2010 Ferrari California - $192,000
2010 Porsche 911 Turbo - $143,000
2010 Audi R8 - $146,000
2010 Aston Martin DBS - $273,000

Its one thing to try to compete with Mercedes and BMW but I think they are way in over their head trying to go after the exotics..

Its sad enough people spend alot of money on a Lexus then three years down the road you can buy the exact car with Toyota Camry badges...

Whats your thoughts?

I have been on Mercedes, Acura, Honda, Mitsu, Lexus forums and the BMW forum seems to be the worst with the brand whores.

Remember the thread when Hyundai Genesis first came out?

A buddy of mine saw the TV spot. He called me knowing I keep up with stuff more or less. He asked how much they where and some basic stats. Before I even told him the stats I said it was going to be near 400K with mark up/certainly so.

Crickets....

Hello?

You are not kidding?

No.

Psssft. I thought it would be around 60. It reminded me of a fancy Nissan Z.

He is not a big car guy but you get my drift.

I think the ad blitz is backfiring.

they are marketing it in such a way that people will think that the engineering will trickle down to their lower models and make them have "super car" like features designed into them. True is I doubt any carbon fiber will be found (in substantial amounts) on any future lexus. No half the other crap on that car.

Nissan GTR 1/4 mile time = 11.9
LFA 1/4 mile time = 11.8

Worth the money??? Yes to millionaires who have driven lexus' their whole lives and now a couple years from the grave they finally decide to blow some cash. I'll be willing to bet the average age of the LFA owners will be the oldest of ANY other super car out there by at least 15 years.
