if your battery dies in the fob (i.e. your other key that's rarely used) simply plug it into the car and it will be recharged and you will be able to turn your car on... it's in the manual

I believe that is true for NONE Comfort Access option. If you have the CA option, you have to change the battery. Unless they change the key for 08M3.

I really like the review and I am in the stage of fine-tuning the options that I will pick. Getting rid of those packages/options will save me some money for my child's education.

You're wrong. It's all in the manual. My 06 330i had CA and the Fob recharged in the slot same as a car w/o CA.

My 07 328 has CA and the key does NOT recharge in the slot. I was wondering if they changed this on the M3 too, I doubt they did. I will check the manual I guess.

From the manual:

"The remote control for the convenient access contains a battery that will need to be replaced from time to time."

Nice car bro!! I have to disagree with your conclusions about ZTP, EDC and the Power function. In my particular case I can/do feel dramatic differences between the settings. For me it made sense to get the ZTP. I mean the car is $60,000, why would I not buy these options for only another $3250. But I guess to each his own!!

my gosh, I am asking what happens if the battery dies. I mean how can you start the car? It's not like people keep batteries around all the time. So i mean is your car dead if you battery dies and you don't have a spare battery?

Can you start the car with a dead battery in the key fob? I am saying with CA cos I don't think it re-charges from what I have read.

If the battery dies you can open the door, trunk, and glove box with the emergency key built into the fob. I believe you can still start the car by plugging the fob into the socket, but I haven't had to try it and the manual isn't specific about this. Not likely a huge problem however - the car will warn you when the battery is getting low and needs to be replaced. You shouldn't get stranded unless you ignore the warning

This doesn't sound much different than the "leather vs non-leather", "traditional manual vs SMG III", etc. arguments. Just because the car is expensive doesn't mean that one has to/should opt for every appointment possible on the vehicle. For some owners, the cost doesn't justify the option.
