Popping through speakers

I have an individual sound system. I recently started getting popping sounds coming from my speakers. Anyone have any input. There are no mods Done.

It's going to be really hard to replicate. My guess is the amp going out. Who knows?

I've been hearing some popping coming from my front passenger area recently, with the EPS system.

If it becomes a bigger, more consistent issue, I will take it in.

Update this thread with what you decide to do and what the dealer says!

Do you have a cell phone in the car when this happens? If so, is it plugged in for charging through the cigarette lighter?

On one of the Droid forums, someone complained that he had a brand new phone and charger and when he went to charge through the cigarette lighter, he heard extraneous noises through the audio system. Although the designers of sound systems try their best to avoid this sort of thing from happening, there are occasions when issues like these appear.

There are sometimes 'band-aids' you can put into your system to 'fix' issues like these but many people don't want to because they think systems should be perfect when purchased.

I was wondering if maybe your system had a cell phone in it. It doesn't have to be plugged in to have weird noises come out of your audio system. On my home computer system, I have a 5.1 speaker configuration and when I set my Thunderbolt near my keyboard and mouse, the audio system picks up crosstalk through the air waves and I hear a strange buzzing sort of noise come out of the speakers. I simply move my phone two feet to the left and the noise goes away. In a vehicle, it might not be so easy to troubleshoot but it was pretty obvious on my home computer since I've had things like this happen in the past with other cell phones.

If you don't have a cell phone in the car, maybe a little more detail about other conditions could be helpful...?

Good luck figuring out what's wrong. These issues are definitely annoying.

hmm that intresting, i do have a cell phone, not plugged in. I ended up cleaning my Itouch's internals and that has seemed to fix the issue as i didnt hear it in CD playback. I will update if the noise comes back.

aresh - can you determine which speaker produces the noise?

m0da - you may have an intermittent connection on your iPod connector if it's only one speaker (localized to right front speaker). It may be around Pin 3 on the connection terminals which is an output line to the right channel.

I'm hoping that a misplaced remote wire is the cause of mine, but have serious doubts about it.

Any ideas, did the amp just die out in the weeks it was off? is there any way to test the amp out? i checked the fiber otpic cable and it has its red LED on( assuming that means the signal to the amp works?

From your description it sounds like the amp went out. When my amp died I had popping sounds from the speakers then eventually the sound died. Your best bet is to go to the dealer to get things checked out.

I had speaker pop issue when I upgrade a CIC to NBT. Initially thought it wasn't coded correctly. Tried playing with the stereo > HIFI, sound variant, enabling the trigger wire, nothing worked..

Have to then send it to the audio expert to find out if there are any bad wire connection not properly grounded, etc.. and finally found the root cause is a faulty NBT HU.

Changed a new one NBT HU and solved the speaker pop issue...
