I just drove in S5 mode for the first time today, and I feel like the car is a different animal compared to D5 even with WOT.

Is this crazy talk or is there a consensus that the car is more aggressive in S5? I could feel myself being thrown back far more than in D mode, and the smile I had during my first test drive found its way back.

Try S6-even more fun. D5 does not take you all the way to 8400 and shifts around 8k for starters. Second the shifts are much smoother in D5 than S5 so you get a real "slammed" into gear effect which I live for in the m3. The sound at 8600 rpms (tuned) and banging into 2nd and 3rd gear at redline is an absolutely incredible experience that is one of a kind

There should be a past cars driven requirement with anything that breaks 350hp. Did you find the rockets in the trunk yet ?

Curious to see if anyone is actually going to answer the OP's question? Would like to know myself if the Automatic setting is just as fast.

These automatic drivers in here don't take too kindly to one of them talking about the fact that there is a D mode at all..."it's a manual dammit, I swear! S mode tells me so!"

In all seriousness if I had a DCT, I'd get Mike Benvo's tune for it. Nothing but rave reviews and if you're used to driving in D mode, it makes all levels sharper and more fun.

You should check out an RS5. Audi made it into a beast, way better than S5. Not familiar with a D5 though...

There is a lazy AND fast option: D5 and hold left paddle back.
