+1 (or just GT3 for that matter). Unless you live in Germany and spend your free days driving around the ring. In America, no one can use a car designed exclusively for high speed. Plus, it's hard not to look like a douche driving anything with a fixed wing on it.

Once you hit the likes of GT3/RS, turbo, etc, there isnt a BMW that will touch them as they are in a different ballgame altogether.
Next logical step would probably be a 997S because it still combines world class performance/handling, luxury and a little bit of practicality.
turbo or GT3 for me but it cant compete with an M3 machine that seats 5

The Boxster Spyder isn't even faster than the M3 let alone the Boxster S/Cayman S. Unless you're talking short track times in which the Spyder will win.

Says the guy who owns an ultra high speed cafe racer. Apparently the mods are on clean up duty so I'll keep it clean; seems to be okay to call others "douche" as evidenced above.

997.2 C2 or 997.1 C2S are the closest to M3.
Cayman S PDK should be similar in performance as well, however the 911 & M3 both have back seats. (although the 911 backseats barely qualify), lol.

Saw your original post and agreed 100% with your comment. I guess it's ok to call someone a douche but "a$$hole" is off limits? Go figure?

There's a big difference between a perception (keyword) generalization applicable to thousands of people vs. actually making a direct comment aimed at someone specific. If you still don't get it then enjoy being angry about something absolutely senseless.

Perhaps my perception is a little skewed as I lived in Germany from 2004 to 2009 and the only place you ever saw GT3s with any regularity was at Nurburgring where they belong. I was actually passed by a Carrera GT one day outside of Frankfurt (on the autobahn). Gorgeous. And I purchased my bike in Germany therefore so much for devo's comment about having a high speed bike in America. BTW, it's very fast but B roads are the most fun, and that usually doesn't involve extreme high speeds. Although I have been 195 mph on it (in Germany).

Perhaps everyone can return to normalcy now?

That's a lot of double speak. Why make a generalization like that in the first place? That's what seems "senseless".

It was meant to be partially entertaining (funny in a true kind of way), but you must admit cars with high-speed aero-packages are a little out of place in America and a wee bit pretentious (although leaps and bounds above add-on wings to Civics). I'm amazed at how thin-skinned some of you are. My GOD!

Perhaps some of you are like the Harley crowd, whom crave attention? I'm the opposite which is why I wouldn't want a winged car. Not discounting how great the car is, but it might make me feel like a douche driving it to the local grocery store...hence the real origin of my thought.

Again, time to agree to disagree and move forward! God forbid we upset GT3 owners on a BMW forum!!!

put it this way, i would refuse to put my kid in the 911 backseat. your kids will hate you. i do not know why porsche even bother, but i don't consider this a seat at all.

It seems weird to insult someone then claim they're thin skinned. And please don't pretend like it wasn't insulting.
Does driving your 911 to a grocery store make you feel that way?
The only time I think a wing looks a little silly is when it's attached to a car that it doesn't belong on.
I personally think the GT3 is the best looking 911.

It shouldn't have been insulting. It wasn't GT3 specific. Nonetheless I'm smart enough to know you guys won't shut the fuck up until you have the last word, so go for it or let the above stand.

Tradition...plus it looks cool. But I would never want anyone back there either. Sit in a E30 lately? It has a super tiny interior. We've all gotten very spoiled, or we were very used to tiny interiors at one point in time and seem to have forgotten how small they were (I'm sure I would think my old '79 RX-7 interior is itty bitty...but no rear seats although I think someone made a kit for one). I know an Italian lady who told me of a road trip her family of 4 once took in a 70s era 911 across Europe (when she was a teenager), and camped in it too. I guess they were masters at traveling light. I actually like the interior sizes of both the modern Carreras and my E46 M3. Really perfect for the class of car. I don't need nor want more space than those for my DD and weekender. Does anyone make a rear seat delete kit for the 997? I've seen some that look quite factory.

+1! All though I'm restraining myself at this point! Of course, my "+1" to your other post is what got me in trouble in the first place. Thanks a bunch, bud!

My boys loved my Porsche and didn't mind sitting back there. Then again they were only 5 & 8..

Of course they like the M3 better when it comes to the rear seats. They do miss Daddy's Porscheee.

While I can agree that the GT3 RS wing is a bit much for me as well, I do love the looks of this Techart III fixed wing on the 997S.

I personally think anyone riding one of those "crotch rockets" looks like they're trying to flog a gnat. Furthermore anyone riding one here in the states is a close relative to a "douche" as these bikes serve as single purpose machines meant for the track. I don't care where they bought it. Now don't anyone here who rides a MV Agusta think that I directed this at them. I mean I know someone here rides one but that doesn't mean I was trying to offend that person.

In reality I love MV Agustas, Ducs and other rockets. I just had to get the last word in.
