Sunroof Malfunction notification

I got a warning that the "anti-trap function of the sunroof was deactivated"

Now my sunroof has limited operation and doesnt open all the way. Anyone else have this same problem?

Thanks

I sure did. Just a few days after my 1200 mile service.

All you have to do is reset it and it should work.

My service guy told me how to do it, so I will pass it onto you.

All you have to do it push the sun roof button up and hold it for 40 seconds. The roof will then open all the way, and close while you are holding it. Then release. It will should function correctly after that.

Next time you strart the car, the error ! is gone.

It worked for me! Hope this helps you.

I just tried it and it worked. Fantastic! You just saved me a trip to the dealership which is 25 miles away. Thank you very much for your help.

Gotta love the forum for stuff like this.

Have a great day...of course you will, you drive an M3.

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I'd bring it back because it just saved me a visit to the dealer. The funky warning light came on yesterday and I had to go to the owners manual to find out that it was the sunroof anti-pinch malfunction.

TimB's reset procedure worked for me, too! M3 Post and the search function save the day again! Thanks!

This is a nice thread from the past to know about! I haven't had a problem yet with mine, but I will have to remember this. Problem is though, with getting older and my inability to remember what I had for dinner the day before, I just hope I can remember that this is here!

an excellent example of properly bumping a thread. Tim B and OP haven't accessed this board since 2010 and 2011 respectively but the information provided is timeless.
