Any Takers For The E92 M3 0-60 Time?
Hey guys, I was just curious to see what you individually predict what the 0-60 time will be for the e92 M3; i'm hoping for somewhere around the neighborhood of 4.5 seconds....

3.9-4.1 I can't imagine BMW would be so close to the curent 4.8 mark of the E46. Does anyone know what the 0-60 time of the E36 was?

we have the engine output already, now we need most importantly the curb weight of the vehicle, then its gearing.
power/weight will give it a pretty close estimate, with gearing and wheel size the estimate will be pretty precise. |

i think everyone can agree it will weigh 3500 lbs. +/- 3%. i figure it has the same power to weight ratio almost as the M5 and the 997 Carrera S and they both do about that time so it seems to make some sense. i understand there are other factors. but it has to do that if it intends to fully trounce the competition.

Doesn't make sense everyone is saying it will be virtually identical to the E46.

I would hasten a guess that it's no lower than 4.5s.
As to whether it will beat the RS4, who knows. We mustn't forget that the RS4 has 4 wheel drive. I think that in perfect dry conditions with a grippy surface, 4.5 will be possible, but I think one thing that stacks up against BMW in the launch stakes is the 50:50 weight distribution. We all know that you need to maximise the weight over the rear wheels to get the best traction off the line (not necessarily fit wider tyres). Look at the 997 GT3 ... that has 415bhp and 291lb/ft of torque, weighs 1395g and does 0-62 in 4.2secs, but with a weight distribution of around 37:63 f/r. |
