Oil Filter Housing Gasket
Hi. I was wondering if anyone has the link or can provide a DIY to changing the oil filter housing gasket on our S65 engines. A lot of guides provide the DIY for N54 and N55 engines but can't seem to find one for our S65 engine. Thanks!

Man, I can't believe BMW hasn't addressed this issue yet and put in a gasket made out of longer lasting material.

Mine have always lasted the 15k. Am I doing something right here?

It better last a whole lot longer than that if it's the gasket I'm thinking of.
This is the gasket that is between the block and the oil filter housing/assembly (not the filter itself, but the big chunk of aluminum that the filter sits in).

What da fuq. I haven't had to replace this (yet) and I've got the car to almost 60k.

For starters, looks like you have to remove the intake assembly, adjacent pulleys and belts, coolant hose that connects to the water pump
then radiator fan for more working space, then the oil lines that bolt onto the housing |

I have not changed mine since new, 40,000 miles on the clock. Is it really necessary to do it? What are the symptoms when it goes bad? Oil leak i would assume... |

I wish there was an aftermarket alternative.
