Front wheel damage repair cost
I slammed my right front wheel into a curb to avoid an idiot driver and am experiencing steering vibration at 60 mph+ and during braking at roughly 25mph+. The right tire also rubs when turned sharply right at slow speeds.
I was quoted the following repair cost by a dealer - can anyone give me a sense as to whether this is reasonable: $203 lower control arm $440 hub (bearing) $302 right carrier $199 alignment $601 rim ~$600 labor Any help appreciated - thanks! |

Looks normal-ish for a dealership.
You might save $50 on the alignment at an indy place - sometimes they are better, sometimes worse. You could save money on the wheel by picking one up in the classifieds, but you will probably have issues buying just one. You will probably save a decent amount on the labor at an indy shop as well. That is probably 6 hours of labor or so I'm guessing @ $100. I doubt it would actually take that long to fix - they are probably just going by book rates, which are always inflated to account for any issue and ensure they don't lose money. Finally, if you don't have a BMWCCA membership, get one because you will save a good amount on parts and the membership will pay for itself. Good luck - that sucks! |

With delicate aluminum suspension, you never know what else is wrong. I'd file an insurance claim and get it fixed properly, but it's your call. Good luck.
