That's a great lap time. Beat the RS5 and not far behind the 991. The upcoming M3 replacement (as rumors suggest) should be brutal.

Btw. Wow @ 0.53

Jeesus!!! The corvette!! I know this is a BMW forum, but did any of you guys notice that??? And someone brought up the M3 doing well for being cycled out, the C6 has been in production for 3-4 years LONGER than the M3!!! And it took down ferraris latest and greatest that cost 3x as much. That is just flat out impressive.

This isn't correct. Initially you are taught to have one smooth turn in and to move the wheel as little possible. However when you actually start going fast and the car starts sliding around under you, quick movements, even what most people would call sawing at the wheel become necessary.

Here, this is an AWD car on slicks at a very high speed track, so the car is much more settled on the power than the M3 in that video, however on entry especially, you can still see what I mean:

Right. Another video to reinforce that point. And yep, the vette time is remarkable.

The sawing through the esses

What exactly does the competition package add/delete? 2.5 sec is impressive!

I can almost guarantee that the ZCP will NOT shave 2.5 seconds off a 2 min lap, let alone one that short. I have driven my car, and a ZCP back to back (this was before most of my mods & at my home track) and can tell you there is little to no difference and the fact that I've got wider rubber on my car made it feel more stable than the ZCP (and slghtly faster). Think DCT would have more to do with the difference than the ZCP, as it is a proven performance mod.

I dunno... it was my thought too that it wasn't very smooth attacking driving (not saying I am any smoother or quicker whatsoever). I think the above point: "when you actually start going fast and the car starts sliding around under you......" indicates when someone is actually over-driving the car. Also when the car slides around so much (there was a lot of that in this video) and abrupt correction, times are lost. Just my 2 cents

The new turbos and gt3s are going to be insane. It seems like Porsche is chasing the top spots even with 'just' the S model. Pretty impressive (minus the price tag) but hopefully the C7 provides enough competition.

EDC is not mutually exclusive to ZCP.

You're right, it's not, but his question was what does ZCP "add" and EDC is in there as part of the package. EDC is indeed a stand-alone option as well.

+1 Moving the steering wheel as necessary to keep the car in direction while sliding. Look at drivers like Fernando Alonso and Ayrton Senna, while qualifing the cars dance on approach and exit. May not be the most effective style over an entire race but one lap sprint its fastest.
