product to use to clean residue/oils off between polish and final seal/wax
I read some folks are using IPA (not sure what that stands for to be honest!) to remove excess polish residues before they put their final carnuba wax or sealants on. What are some good brands/options? I've always just did an old-skool wash before putting the final seal down. But, maybe there is a better way?
Anyone try this Mezerna Top Inspection -500 stuff? |

ipa is an acronym for isopropyl alcohol. It's also commonly known as rubbing alcohol. Most people who use it use the 99% or 70% versions appropriately cut with water (so that is is 50% alcohol/50% distilled water). As you mentioned, a re-wash is normally ok depending on the soap you use (use a soap without a wax in a concentrated dilution). If you don't want to re-wash common products are ipa/water, carpro eraser, prepsol, or even some window cleaners (ammonia window cleaners kill polishing oils).
The guy I use washed the car with a product called hi temp prep wash (which is a soap made for removing oils), then wiped down with carpro eraser. |

I personally use a 50/50 diluted IPA solution to wipe down any polishing oils before using any LSP.
I also see a lot of people using chemical guys citrus wash before their LSP to strip any left over oils instead of using IPA

Lots of times I don't use IPA and follow straight with a sealant or wax. I'll clean polishing oils off a test spot, but if it checks out, I won't do it on every panel/section.

Sealants have far surpassed waxes but the price point and ease of application and so on for waxes make it a favorite for some. I rather take long protection than minimal protection/high gloss personally
