How do they hold up on the Track Tom? Do you eventually get brake fade with the Cool Carbons? How are they on the stock rotors?

There will actually be much more control with the CC pads and the initial bite is actually improved, more linear and much easier to control than the OE pads. The CC pads are continuously variable all theway thru.

Additionally, the friction level increases with temperature. The OE pads are about .37 coefficient of friction; the CC pads start about .41 cold and rise to .52 if you get them hot; so rather than early fade, you get increased friction level as needed. They are excellent and very comfortable on the street with many customers also running them on the track and including R compound tires.

Great info in this thread....

Joe, et al. know what they are talking about...take heed!

Just wanted to add that there is really no good "compromise"...

Track pads work well at the track, but are not the BEST choice for the street (noise, inefficiency when cold, rotor wear, etc.).

Vice versa, a street pad, even if a "sport pad" or whatever, will never hang with a "track" pad.

You can either swap pads or just live with the track pad on the street, which I did for YEARS on my GT3. I had Pagid RS-19's (a racing "endurance" pad) and they were STELLAR on the track...on the street, the garbage truck/transit bus squealing is about what it sounds like...but when they get to temp, think boat anchors...absolutley sublime.

So, swap them out at the track (or the night before), or just live with the noise....

I found rotor wear with track pads to be "close" to normal wear...so, IMHO, rotor wear was not a big issue, just the noise and a bit of decreased efficiency when the pads were cold.

At any rate, when you do install a set of track pads and get them up to temp, you will fall in love with them....enjoy!

I have never had a problem with PF-01s wearing rotors. They are in fact quite rotor friendly. This cannot be said for many of the other pads recommended on this site.

Thanks All...great information. I wonder why some folks say that track pads wear out your stock rotors faster??? That's my only worry...

Eh, the harsher the compound, the more metallic so there's more wear. Don't worry about the wear!

Jason pretty much nailed it - while there is really no free lunch, there are pads that will suit most needs, depending on driving habits.

We're running a special if you decide to run the Cool Carbons, check the vendor's section for more info.

Oh, you're neighbors will hear when you come home at night.

Which is why I love my PF01/97s!
All the reasons to buy them!!!! Go with PFC .. On thrack you will not regret it! But change the fluid or you will be parked looking for a motive bleeder bottle
