it's only one step for bmw to put speakers under the hood too.

They must have put racing blinker fluid in and swapped muffler bearings out.

Personally I don't like the way the new M looks but very soon our E9X will start looking dated and the new M will grow on me and I'll buy it, love it till the next M comes along in 2021 and we will all be bashing that So this is nothing new. Carry on the bashing............
I actually am quite excited for the 2021 M. By then their new carbon fiber production facility will be in full swing, and M's FI tech will improve (S55 is their first turbo where they tried to mitigate turbo's traditional drawbacks, so it can only get better). It will be some crazy hybrid electric petrol motor with an all-carbon fiber body and various energy recovery systems. Someone in another thread said something along the lines of the next M making the F8x look like a beta version in this new era of tech-focused M. I am inclined to agree.

I just wanted to make sure you choked this one down real good. And that goes for all the F8x haters on this forum. 118mph traps bone stock and 124mph with just a few extra psi of boost and no other mods (that's Z06 territory kids).

I need to sell my E93 6MT before the prices tank and buy a E92 DCT afterwards

I find it funny the F8X people think its jealousy to find fault with the new F8X. Basically can't stand a turbo on a performance car plain and simple. There are tons of WRX STIs, Evos, putting out 700+hp, there are GTRs putting out 1000 hp, Porsche turbos over 800 hp. If I wanted a turbo car the M3/M4 wouldn't be on the list, I'd spend a little more and buy a GTR which kills the M4 with DCT and CCBs doesn't it? BTW I own a E60 535i, I love the "surge" as it goes through the gears and the 27 mpg on the highway a great sedan. If the new M3/M4 was a 4.4 liter, 9k rpm V8 my E92 would be gone.

No plans to get one in the immediate future. I will revisit it in the middle of the lifecycle after, LCI and ZCP present themselves in a couple of years. I will also wait to see how the M2 pans out. Even thou the current 2015 F8X is shiny, fresh and new today it will be cast as the least desirable MY just like the 2008, 2001 and 1995 M3's.

Not a bad thing & i'm planning on dyno'ing at EAS again soon (this time with my E90), but just saying that basing the 424whp number from EAS and assuming 500+bhp by the default 15% calculation is quite unrealistic.

The only constructive info we can get from these numbers is by comparing the dyno of a stock E9X M3 on the same EAS dyno, with all other conditions being equal (i.e., stock car, low miles, dct trans, same wheel size, similar weather/humidity/temp conditions).
Looking back at some of the EAS dynos of late model E9xs, the range was about 355-365 whp. So even if all conditions were equal, the E92 still has a lot of ground to make up. Here's one for example:

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=741924

In any event, I'm still in the camp of keeping my E92.

Well it might be high but I just reliable because there are so many cars that are run on it. It gives good comparison to other e92 I guess

I agree, if it really is making that much why the hell would they not advertise it. I mean you want to say hey our new m3-4 is going to make 420 and everyone goes "booo that sucks" or would you rather tell people it is going to make 490 and everyone then says " that rocks"
The 335is have a ton of problems, the local dealer says they see them in the shop all the time. I just hope that if they really are leaning on it that hard then it stays together for the long term. 500/500 out of a 3.0l I6 is a ton of power, then they start boosting them like the one cat up to 24psi.

Here is what kills me, bmw says it makes 406ft/lbs at the crank (the website says 550nm) and now they are making 425 at the wheel. WTF is that, so it really makes 660nm, so they are underestimating by 20%?????????????
I looked up a few GTR graphs, the m3-4 make the same power and 25 more ft/lbs stock. That is nuts

This x1000000

Why would I give up a High strung V8 fire breather for a main stream I-6 turbo. Been there done that.
If anything I would add, but I want a smaller M.

I'm sure some of it is dyno manipulation. Once the car is in the hands of more owners and they're tuning it on all kinds of dynamometers, we'll see how much the car is underrated - if at all.

That is true my friend. If it comes out around 3200-3300 that would be great. IDK how BMW marketed the new M3/4 as 3300 and in the end is 200+ lbs more.

I always thought MAHA was the most accurate dyno and used by the auto manufacturer. I am still not sure which is arbitrary, the whp or crank. I would think it's the whp that is arbitrary but idk.

the whole concept without a baseline is arbitrary. A dyno should be used as a tool to measure the gains from any changes you've done to the car - and not as an indication of speed or how much power your car actually has.

According to dynocomp (in scottsdale, AZ), my M with 39k miles (At the time of dyno) on a 95 degree day has 327whp or 420 to the crank because they calculate a 27% drivetrain loss.

That doesn't really mean much to me, but since phoenix is also so fawking hot, I'm sure my baseline will hold some water whenever I decide to supercharge my car and see what kind of gains the car achieved.
