Got spanked by a jeep srt8... wtf??

So I'm with my gf at a stoplight, and some guy pulls up next to me in a jeep, it didn't even cross my mind about the model or whatever, and he starts revving his engine, so I think whatever, probs some teen let me leave him right here. Light turns green, and all i see is his taillights and srt. I'm thinking in my head wtf, i have DCT and I got a good launch... ego kinda took a hit for a sec

From a dead stop perhaps. Take him to the track or for a 1/4 mile or longer. Or even make it more fair by using launch control. Ya, they're fast off the line.

More and more vehicles are achieving lots of power and traction catching up with the M3 which is 5 years old now. But there's still nothing like it.

AWD. I had a 300C SRT-8 and that engine is a beast. I did the SRT Experience and I was able to get my best 0-60 times in the Jeep. It has no wheel spin. If you could have hit a turn with him, just know that thing handles like a tank.

I just bought a 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT as my everyday car. It is fast, has an amazingly quiet cabin, and the best stero I have had. Not quite my M3 in the handling department, but you might be surprised how well it actually does handle for an SUV!

The 0-60 is comparable to the M3's. And with AWD, I am not surprised.

The Jeep's 4.7 second 0 to 60 mph time is not comparable to the M3's 3.9 second sprint to 60.

That's why we went with the X5M instead. Handling is fantastic for this type of car.

look I have an m3 and love it too, but the 3.9 was in one test and seemingly is an anomaly

id say the average tested 0-60 is somewhere around 4.5 seconds. some quicker, some slower.

part of the problem is the lack of traction in lower gears.

that said, the m3 is clearly the faster car compared to the jeep, the trap speeds tell the story

The M3 was a couple of ticks slower in a Motor Trend comparo, but that's understandable when you realize that it was Motor Trend guys, who are undeniably more comfortable in Chevys and Fords, driving the car.

people here seem to be forgetting you can mod SRT Jeeps too... my old coworker had one and it was a beast!

The numbers they got for the M3 are a bit of a fluke and would be tough to repeat. The Jeep will have an advantage due to AWD and a broad power band vs the peaky power of the M3. SRT also upgraded the '14 model with an 8-speed transmission, which should shave a few tenths off the 0-60.

FYI, just imagine what an X5M would do to you off the line...they are very quick! Even my 50i with Dinan chip can run a very repeatable 0-60 in the low 4s.

It happens OP. that older version is very fast and with simple FBO can gain a lot of HP and TQ from that engine.

No need to modify it. 6.4 liter engine what do you expect ? 465 lb.ft and 5150 lbs curb weight vs. 295 lb.ft and 3483 lbs, which gives a +6.6% acceleration advantage to the jeep SRT8. Not that much, but with 4WD and launch control, it's enough at least until you have to take a turn

However for the G37 there is nooo excuse. not in the numbers and not even a modified one, only the driver..

Who the hell cares. At the end of the day he is in a jeep. Period. Been there done that..

Run this clown from a second or third gear roll and you will leave the over 5000 pound jeep. Its like racing an X5, seriously. Pfft...

I couldn't believe it myself, but they tried it off the line 2 times, rolling 2 times..lol. The g37s stick though is veryy quick. Possibly only got it because of his launches though. Idk what to say about the rolling though
