Just had break-in service performed today...

Man I love this car! The sound of the engine at 8,000 rpm is simply amazing.

What's in like driving pre- break in? Still good at 4k?

It wasn't too bad for me, mainly because I was stuck driving a Hyundai and a Kia for a few months until my car came in. I had to get used to the speed so the break-in phase was for me and my car.

Pre break-in drive is quite tame, the thing that i found most restrictive was the no full throttle thats suggested by BMW.

Don't worry Totti - the car makes great noises at 3, 4, and 5 thousand rpms. In that range, it sounds more like an american V8.

Nice history of cars! Would love to hear comparisons between them and the M3.

Thanks. The short and sweet version is even though I haven't owned the M3 very long, my initial impression would be that it is the best car I have owned to date. The GTR was surprisingly boring to drive and the engine/exhaust was uneventful. No exhaust note and no turbo sounds. The Cayman S was fun to drive and the engine sounded fantastic at full song, but I was always wanting just a little more hp. The Shelby was quick in a straight line but handled like a dump truck. Out of all the previous cars including a C6 Corvette and a Z4 35i that I didn't have room to list, I kept the 335i with the Dinan Stage 2 flash the longest. I really liked that car, so it's no surprise that I love the M3. I was always impressed with my wife's ISF until I purchased the M3. It is just on another level in so many ways.

I don't know you, but that's definitely a bold statement with your resume of cars.
