AA HFC hangs low?
Hey guys,
I installed my Active Autowerke HFC Xpipe and I have noticed that the clamp the holds the HFC's to the x pipe hangs below the the car. I will post pics...I am on my iPhone.

The clamps that hold the hfc are right up against the heat shield and vibrates under a heavy acceleration. It is just causing some ground clearance issues. Any one else have this issue?

I know what you mean... my AA HFC are easily the lowest part under my car and sometimes scrape on really big speed bumps or if I go up a short steep driveway. As far as the vibration is concerned, just bend the heat shield back and it will fix your problem

Read my post in another thread about what to do to get rid of vibration. You need to bend the heat shield in several places and i listed all the ones to check. You are likely hitting the black "brace" as well and would be better served by removing it and replacing the bolts back on the frame without the black thing. It WILL fit well with no vibration after all this is done.
What pisses me off is why a big company like AA cannot make a factory fitting exhaust pipe. I mean they don't even put all the same hanger points on the thing as they leave out one of them near the high flow cat area. Just not that hard to make something fit like factory. THe thing is its not even the high flow cats that are a bad fit, even though those are the only thing I could understand being hard to fit due to the size. Oh well. worth it for the sound IMO. I love the sound[/QUOTE] Can you post the link to your thread you mentioned. Also I agree that the sound is worth it!'

I used to have an AA HFC Xpipe
I did like the sound (it was a bit raspy and raw, as I had it hooked up with an OEM rear), but it bothered me that it would sometimes scrape when I went over steep bumps and driveways. it's simply a design flaw

V Band clamps do require an extra 3/4 inch on top and on bottom (and on the sides) and this reduces clearance. But they make it easy to install and remove a section of exhaust and they usually don't leak. You can remove it and weld the HFC section in place. You can cut it out and use a 3 inch wide band clamp that fits flush everywhere except the joint (and you can locate that on the side).

I had this problem with the Fabspeed setup on the left side. It would hit over speed bumps. I wound up selling that exhaust and never got that resolved.
Some cats have trouble fitting and you have to pound the heat shield to make enough room. I don't have experience with the AA one but it sounds good! |

My Fabspeed cats hang low. One has a big dent. This car doesn't work well with round HFC it seems.

Hold it right there, mister. When I saw the picture I was truly amazed of how low the x-pipe hangs. I recently installed the Akra Evo and fits PERFECTLY. If you are implying that I wanted to worry the OP, you are plain wrong! By the time I made the comment it was obvious to the OP that this is usual for the AA x-pipe. If I gave the wrong impression, my apologies to the OP, not to you though. So don't come out swinging with no reason. Last but not least, this is an internet forum, people can make comments.

Wonder why this hasn't been brought up in the past?

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

my AA catless x-pipe has kinda same issue with the clamp, i just bend the heat shield and that will help. but still has vibration. I paired with AA exhaust.

I don't know what's wrong, maybe it needs some adjustment. Mine is perfectly leveled and no scraping or vibration/rattling

Couldn't a muffler shop weld on the missing OEM hanger position(s)?
