Vehicle Check?

I have about 29,7xx miles on my 2010 M3 now. The "Vehicle Check" is due in about 300 miles but "oil change" is not due until another 1400 miles. What do they really do for this service? I talked to the dealership and they told me I must go in when the light is up regardless what it is even they don't know if anything needs to be done. I don't live near by the dealership so I don't wanna waste any gas money on some visual check up.

Thanks!

They will do whatever is near due. Brake fluid, etc.

I just turned 30K and had the same service done a week ago. Just a basic inspection of the vehicle and a diagnostic check. Yes, its a waste of time. I did it because its about 15 miles from the office and it gave me a reason to check out the new F30 335.

I had like 1500mi until service, but had to get my state inspection done. When they put the key in the reader, it said to change the oil as well. I had always heard you had to be within 1k miles for the condition based service to confirm the change, but perhaps that is not the case. You might check with your dealer to see if they know.

Thanks for the reply guys. I've called 4 dealerships and 3 of them said I don't need to go in for this Vehicle Check since what they do is check the fluids, brakes, and tires (wtf I can just do this myself lol) NO guaranty if they will do an oil change. I guess you could just bring it in if you have the time and live or work close to the dealership since it's free anyways.

They might void your warranty if you don't service when the light is on.
