Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust System

The Facts:
24 Horsepower over stock
25 Foot Pounds of Torque over stock
50 pounds lighter than stock exhaust system
$5500 shipped to the US

The Result:
Best exhaust system available for the M3
...if you can afford it.

For all of you that would like to see the Akrapovic exhaust system in detail you've come to the right thread. If you’re like me you want to see more than just pictures of the exhaust tips hanging out the back of an M3!!!

I had a hard time finding any detailed videos or pictures of this exhaust before I bought it, so I hope this helps some of you potential buyers.

Now before you ask for sound clips I will go ahead and tell you that I don't have any yet. My M3 only has 95 miles on it, so I will not be installing the system for at least 3 weeks. I will post some sounds clips once installed.

I purchased my system from Ralf Krenzer. Ralf is an Akrapovic dealer and M3 enthusiast. I wired the money to Ralf and he sent my system out by FedEx two days later. I want to thank Ralf for his patience and continued support. His email address is: RalfKrenzer@t-online.de

I would also like to thank Florian over at a-workx for all of the information that he provided me about the Akrapovic exhaust.

You have a lot of faith to just wire the money...either way, the exhaust is sick! I just hate the Ti tips. If it had chrome or brushed tips, it would be right up my alley. I know that sounds stupid (as I'm sure tons of you love it as is), but the Ti tips just don't match with all the silver/chrome on JB.

Is there an option to buy just the axle-back portion?

Very nice. Mine just got here yesterday as well. Also got mine from Ralf. I will be installing it this weekend.

hawkeye, it is available as just a rear section. It's called a slip-on system.

I would like to know how Akra is avoiding CEL with no primary cats. My sources tell me Lamda simulators do not work on the M3. Maybe for a short time and then code...... Just saying. Maybe these guys are on to something. Maybe it will code. Please keep us posted.

System is gorgeous btw.

I'm also curious about the missing primary cats and no codes.

Looks sweet though. I would consider this if I didn't already have my Eisenmann.

BTW, I know it's not a common name, and many do wonder how it is pronounced. It is "Ack-rap'-o-vich".

The Akrapovic Evolution System is available with and without Lambda adapters. Without adapters normally ECU programming is required to avoid CEL, so this is an option for those who want to do ECU tuning anyway. The System with adapters comes for those, who do not want to modify ECU, but therefore it is about 300$ more expensive. The reason for this pricing is, that the adapters are so called micro catalyzers. They contain a ceramic element and so you will not get the "Check Engine Light"! I will attach pictures to give you an impression of the adapters.

Have to say it is one the best made exhausts I have seen. Looking forward to fitting and testing it.

It did a feel like a leap of faith. My bank even called back an hour later asking if I was sure I wanted to do this! Everything Ralf told me checked out (he is an airline pilot for a major airline in Europe) and the fact the he delivered an intake to Pencilgeek made me comfortable enough.

Yes, it cost about $3300. I would really recommend spending an extra $2000 for the header back system though. The performance gains are just not there with the slip-on axle back system.

I would of never thought I would spend this much money on exhaust, but I did. The AA header back system w/ high flow cat is about the same price, but you don't get the weight savings.

I tried pronouncing it like that, but a few sport bike friends of mine say it like I did in the video so i just went with the majority.

So the exhaust has a bronze/golden hint of color? I believe aworkx said over time it will become more of a golden color? If this is the case...it's one of the only reasons that would sway me from getting this exhaust.
