So what is wrong with the M5/M6
Can't believe how many 1-2 year old M5/6 are for sale on ebay with less than like 12-15000 miles. A lot of people are dumping M6 gran coupes in less than a year with less than 5000 miles. What's up? Rarely saw this with the M3.

The M3 attracts a different crowd. It appeals to more enthusiasts than the higher priced M cars.

Like Z K said people probably get bored after a while and trade it for something else.
Not saying the M5/M6 are in the same category but look like Ferrari's and Lamborghini's, I always see these cars with 800 miles-1500 miles for sale. I personally love the M5. |

i honestly do not like the F10 M5 at all. It doesnt even look much different than a loaded 5 series. nor is it even that great of a car, never really seen that good of reviews. i see them on the dealership lot going to over 100k all day also.
I think overall the F10 M5 was a loser for BMW. |

I live around towns where people come to my local BMW dealers to buy M cars as "second" or "third" cars (unfortunately, im not even close to that rich lol). I always see M5 and M6 and the M grand coupe, several Audi RS cars at the used lot, and hear stories from salesperson that they returned the vehicle to get a better, newer car. At the same time, I always see TOP NOTCH optioned M cars and Alpina B7s, which never stay at the dealer for a long time. They always sell so quickly.

I think it would be hard to go from a turbo V8 to a turbo I6, but I know the weight difference is HUGE.

Have you driven them? Fast, but absolutely dreadful to try and put that power down on anything but a straight, and even then its tough. They are numb and frankly IMO boring to drive. Plus I am not a fan of the looks of either of them.
When the M5 lost to the S6 and E63 AMG, that should tell you something. The M5 has lost all comparos to the Panamera GTS which is to be expected since its a precision car. The M6 last year in MT's best driver's car came in 10th out of 12 cars, and Pobst was quoted saying it was the ANTITHESIS os what BMW M once stood for. |

I drove a non-comp pack F10 for a while and I wasn't very impressed. Fast in a strait line but didn't have the normal bmw feel to it. I like the new F80 a lot more.

Really depends on what you want.. if you want a car that you can daily driver/track then there are alot more choices than the M5. But for 2nd car, weekend around town, prestige, business purpose then this is where you see alot of people with the M5/M6.

The M5 was always the "gentleman's supercar" and was never meant to significantly stand out from the pack visually.....only when you hit the gas. I concur with others who say the people who buy them typically swap cars in the 4k-14k mile range, as they want the newest kid on the block.

its still a nice car though, and i would highly consider taking one over a E92 M3 or F80 M3. but i am not sure i would spend over 100k on one. the car just doesn't appeal to me, there are things about it i would change. |

you guys are crazy - i would totally have fun with an f10 m5 at the track getting opposite lock and shredding through 3 sets of tires (maybe more) in one track event.

The F10 M5 is not a fun track car. I've never seen one at a track day either.

M5 would be a good vehicle for people who wants to have a family sedan, but just want to have a sporty vehicle. It is ideal for road car. I prefer M3 over M5 anyday. However, I do have a toddler so, I would probably shift toward M5 over M3 when my kid turns 12+
Even then, there is always a M3 sedan. LOOKS: F10>E60 My overall preference: E60>F10 |

sideways is just as fun as fast laptimes IMO. granted on smaller tight tracks but i dont even like taking my m3 sedan to a small tight track (eg streets of willow) but at a big track this m5 will haul some serious ass (eg autoclub speedway, the ring, all those tracks in norcal). |

Looked at an M6 with my dad and end of the day he went with another Cayenne as a DD, but instead of a GTS this time a Turbo, and he just couldnt get over not having as nice of a cabin in the M6 as the Cayenne. Just is on a whole other level especialyl with the two tone full leather interior. Last edited by Wolfinwolfsclothing; 08-20-2014 at 08:14 AM.. |
