Driving Route Download

Does anyone know how to load a driving route into the navigation system without having to enter each point manually in the iDrive?

There are some great websites and even BMW has their Ultimate Drive app with great routes, but I've never been able to figure out a way to get them into the navigation system, without entering them manually. It would be nice to send them to it or put them on a thumb drive.

You can send route to your car through Google and they are then saved in the iDrive. I have several common ones that I have sent and left on the car....

Google Maps, enter address, select "more", select "send", send to "car" and enter info.

I think it only sends the destination address, not the entire route. Granted the navigation can get me there, but I wanted to just load a route that someone else has already mapped out. Most of those sites will let you download a file and open in google maps, but then there's no way to get the whole route to the car. Unless I'm just not seeing something.

Not sure what you mean:

"load a route that someone else has already mapped out"

I think that I am missing something...

The BMW driving app has a bunch of driving routes, which you can export and open in Google maps. They're just routes that someone else has already driven, enjoyed, and want to share. I was just trying to find an easier way to put them in the car's navigation instead of putting in all of the waypoints again manually.

Ahhh... I understand what you're looking for. Don't know of a way to load specific routes, sorry.

The only way to load a specific route is via BMW Routes website. You need CIC iDrive and a connected drive account. I use this site to route my intercontinental European trips exactly how I want it, not just input multiple destinations. The routes can then be downloaded within iDrive itself by accessing saved journeys and then select import routes, and then chose BMW Routes or My Routes or USB.

If you access BMW Routes via saved journeys on your iDrive, it contains pre-routed journeys just like the Ultimate Drive App.

Because of the custom nature of the route, route criteria functions and dynamic rerouting are disabled.
