Going Individual - Azurite Black or Midnight Blue?
I'm ordering an individual M3, but can't decide between Azurite Black and Midnight Blue to go with Rust Brown and Piano Black trim. What are your opinions on the two? WALLEY has a gorgeous Midnight Blue coupe, but the Azurite photos I've seen look amazing too. And both look good with the Rust Brown. I always said my next M3 would be black, but that midnight looks so classy. Opinions?
Thanks, -jai5w4 |

Sorry if this makes your decision even more complicated OP, but given the two you've listed have you added Carbon Black to the mix? It's an M-exclusive color that for some reason isn't offered on the M3. I know you'd share a color with several other models out there if you went that route, but the black with blue undertones can't be beat IMHO and it seems like that's what appeals to you based on the colors you're considering.
Good luck and congrats!

Azurite looks fantastic but it takes a discerning eye to distinguish that from Jerez Black. If I were choosing, I'd go for Midnight Blue with Rust Brown Leather interior (like one of the other forum members)--that combo is sick!

Thanks all for the responses thus far.
Stallion, I hear you on the Jerez/Azurite comparisons. My fear is that the midnight blue is too purpley. That's why I wanted to avoid Jerez in the first place and go with more blue in the black. The midnight blue is on the table, but only if it's not purpley. |

I've seen pics of these color options only, so I cannot properly comment because I have not seen these in person. However, I will say that, to me, neither color really stand out over a non-individual color option. If I was going to spend the extra money on an individual color, I would go with something that is much more unique. Just my optinion.

I had an Imola Red E46 M3 I sold and while I liked it, I swore my next M3 wouldn't be so flashy in color. I'm not a white guy or silver, I like my blacks and blues. I just can't decide which.
Has anyone seen Midnight Blue on any BMW? Is it purple in any way? I'm hoping more for a deep navy color with it. That's what I like so much about the Azurite photos, the blue flakes look really BLUE. |

OP, I have Azurite Black on order for my M, and have seen it in person (TTBear's former e92 m3).
It is really a very dark blue rather than black. It's bluer than Jerez. Like you, I kinda wanted to avoid the purple-ish tone. Jerez is a very nice and special color in itself but I'd rather a pure black or a dark blue in that instance. Unfortunately, I've never seen Midnight Blue in person. It would have also cost++ (for us Canadians compared to the Azurite), so another reason it wasn't worth pursuing for me further... But WallyE's car looks terrific.

But some people are not ordering it for the purpose of looking different to others.

Furthermore, the current Individual palette of exterior colors is absurdly extensive. So limiting the choices to what a few forum members have already chosen is a waste, IMO. At least take a look at the whole list first before deciding... |

Ruby Black.
It is The Only Answer. Especially with Rust Brown. I mean, for me.

I have looked over the Individual list, and I'm not about to order a green or orange car simply in an attempt to be more 'unique.' That's not why I'm interested in the Individual program.
Here are some photos of the two colors: Midnight Blue Azurite Black |

But i do tend to agree with the other posters on this thread. Why spend money on an individual paint, if the paint color you choose doesn't make you look individualized. Colors like the one's you've chosen here are so close to jerez black that 98% of the time neither you nor anyone else will be able to tell the difference.
