Question 2 piece direct replacement rotors in development?

Is anyone aware of any 2 piece direct replacement rotors in development for the E9X M3? Currently, our only option is the stock rotors.

Don't know but assume Performance Friction will supply a superior replacement rotor for the e9x M3.

Yeah, the rotors aren't bad and the cooling isn't generally all that bad its more an airflow problem

Back in the E46 days PFC rotors were just fine without having to go BBK. That was the best bang for the buck in stopping power at the track for the dollar. Maybe a PFC larger rotor and new bracket would help with the cooling some

My stock are rotors are cracking big time, and airflow through the vents is limited due to their construction. I want to see if a quality aftermarket rotor set might last longer and run cooler.

The stock rotors are a very nice design, but I don't think they are the best from a cooling standpoint. Audi and BMW designs are very similar.

Take a look at this thread.

I was spoke with Dave Zackhausen the other week (very informative guy), and he pretty much said the same thing when I asked about why Stoptech rotors might offer better cooling than stock rotors. That the connection method between the hat and the rotor limit airflow in the stock setup (I assume it is cheaper to manufacture though). Also, aftermarket rotors might have more effective vent geometries (which might also be more expensive to manufacture/cast, etc).

Aren't the OEM rotors a floating design like the ST/Brembo rotors? IIRC, the hat is aluminum and the the disc is joined to the hat with some aluminum rods. I think there was a picture in the M3 brochure.

Some nice OEM slotted replacements would be nice!

What do you guys think about Girodisc ?

It looks like they make a good quality rotors ... many porsche guys using them and it looks like they have rotors for e46 m3 ... but nothing yet for e92
