Here's my guess.

COTA found more profitable events. Think of all the races coming up. Then this is a new track so teams have to do more testing to create some data points. FYI...Turner and Bimmerwold were in town recently. AND...F1 is THE priority. I don't see how a DE is profitable at this point since they have to keep the facility in top condition. Let's face it...how much oil and coolant gets dragged around the track over time? I can still see my oil trail at Cresson in Rattlesnake when my engine let go.

I am disappointed but I don't blame COTA. Its about track survival which is good for us. It increases the chances that the track will survive.

I know Driver's Edge is one. BMWCCA might be another...got an email saying don't despair. That's all I know. SCCA and MVP were the only others that I'm aware of. Looks like the Driver's Edge will be first to go on 12/13 Jan. I know Rick mentioned that you have to be a previous, recent, and somewhat regular customer. Not sure what that means exactly. Then BMWCCA is in June with certain stipulations. And MVP is sold out.

The language sounds like once these 4 events are done, no more DEs. I will hazard a guess that COTA will look into running their own DE school at some point. It will probably be really expensive.

Man it seems like this track has had some mis-management from the word go. I agree with your thoughts on running their own DE. Money talks and if the F1 boys have spoken about future track concerns, then COTA really has no choice. But all of this should have been worked out prior to cutting the ribbon and advertising events on their website..........Phil

Lol...did you follow the construction phase at all? It was a mess. I will have to question some of the facilities there because in August it didn't look close to being finished. They probably started cutting corners or workers worked some extra long shifts.

But I'm sure time will smooth out the operation. Its probably pure chaos there.

Yes that page is a joke and yes I have some first hand knowledge of the construction delays and other COTA BS. It's really sad that the track management staff seems to be split on DE events (and I'll leave that statement right there)..............Phil

I don't think either decision was wrong. They should have gotten on the same page from the beginning instead of saying no, yes, no, yes.

Per the Lone Star Chapter event chair... "A meeting will take place after the holidays to finalize all the details on the clubs June event at Circuit of the Americas. Registration will be delayed a few days but our event has not been cancelled."

I think the 4th event was Ride Smart (bikes...bleh), not David Murray.

Drivers Edge requires a special tech which has some increased brake service requirements (thicker pads, fluid not older than 3 months), newer rotors). I guess we are not allowed to bring food and drinks in BUT COTA concessions will be open.

4th event not ride smart or David Murray by my calculations. Bikes might be counted somewhere else though.
