Looking to purchase this 2008 m3.

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hello everyone,
Currently on the market for an m3 and was seeking this forums opinion on this potential purchase. It is located 600 miles from where I live so I would have it shipped to me and unfortunately I won’t have a chance to test drive it which scares me a bit. I know the car has lowering springs and an exhaust that the dealership can’t name. Here is a link to the post.

I think the car is priced too high and plan on talking them down some. Any ideas on what would be a reasonable price?

Here is a link to the car fax report if you guys wouldn’t mind taking a look at that as well it seems to be a bit off as its been handed around quite a few times.

I would much rather purchase a stock one and add mods myself because I heard some people have bad experience buying an already modded car; but the black exterior with red interior is so just gorgeous.

Overall what are your guys thoughts?

I wouldn't pay more than $28k and I wouldn't buy it unless the sellers offer a return policy. You're making a gamble and could be getting into something that needs nearly 5 figures in maintenance and repair. If I were you I would drive to where ever the car is and get it properly inspected.

Thanks for the reply. They do offer a 3000 mile or 90 day return BUT I am 600 miles away so thats another $500 shipping out of my pocket if that did happen.

In my opinion that isn't a good mindset when it comes to buying a used german sports cars. You're looking to save pennies and will most likely be spending dollars, a lot of them. Maybe consider something closer to you or one that's still under CPO warranty.

Am I missing something? The car is priced at $25k right? Nycplumber says he wouldn't pay more than $28k? Maybe the price was lowered in the last few minutes? Also, seller is never going to give you a money back guarantee. If you want a five day no questions asked return policy Autonation offers those. I don't have an issue with this particular vehicle but what is special about this one that you are considering buying it? The fairly low price? Because other than the price I do not see anything that stands out about it that I would be interested in. It's as if you have done a search and you selected the lowest priced vehicle and then have asked for advice on it. Nothing wrong with that, I'm just trying to figure out if that is where you are at.

5 owners?! Consider my car:

2 owners, full records, m3post member, 62k miles. $28k. Save yourself the headache.

It's an e92 with dct, plenty to choose from.

The car has been for sale for a few weeks now and they actually dropped it down from $26k.

It isn't so much the price, but the fact that it already has mods and the color combination as well. I guess I am just being impatient because is pretty dry right now in California with cars for sale, it's probably the time of the year I guess.

The car for sale above has an un named exhaust and springs. Not a good start to spending $25k. Lots of 2008 cars for sale by forum members to choose from. That would be a good start.

Full folder of records and $10,000 in tasteful mods.

Exactly I would mind buying it modded as long it is private but the dealership doesn't know jack about this car and it worries me that the previous owner actually sold it to a dealer.
Thanks for the replies guys I'm going to stay patient and wait for a better deal to come my way.

thats about a $20k car. at least do a proper PPI. any bmw dealership will do it for a couple hundred bucks. they can tell you what has been done (if it was done at a dealer), and what it needs.

I think you need to have the car checked out. I mean the interior looks pretty good based on the pictures. I think if everything checks out, this car is a 24k car.

if you decide that's the one, i would 1) have ar autoservice in lake oswego do a ppi and 2) drive it down.

That car is a POS. I know the PO and he tracked and abused it. Wouldn't touch it for the world.

Plus AR has enough on their hands with my car

By the way the seats look good because there were buckets installed in the car.

Who sells an M3 and doesn't show a picture of the engine bay? You know, the selling point of the whole car. Or am I missing that somewhere?

Maybe explain why its such a "POS"?

"Tracked/Abused" cars tend to be the best maintained.

OP, don't ask opinions on here. Everyone else wants to feel like they found some rare gem and a cheap 08 couldn't possibly be any good! Go see it for yourself, get it inspected and buy it if you like it
