Isn't it usually the case that the best wheels in terms of strength, durability and fit are the OEM ones? Are there manufacturers that produce better wheel than OEM? Seems unlikely being that BMW will spend a lot of money and research time to ensure the wheels chosen for the car are perfectly suited and appropriate for the car setup.

I tend to agree...however...I will need a second set of rims as I will be driving my car in the winter and it is easier to just swap out...so either I can go with factory 19"s..and get some aftermarket 18"s for the winter...(which may be the better thing to do so that I can get 8.5" all around for better winter traction)...or get the factory 18"s and put winter tires on those and get a custom 19"...either way...I have to get a second set of rims...

The other thing that I realized is that I could get someones take-off for about $2K/set...

But...I am getting this customization bug...

I would say the oem 19's (forged) would be hard to beat. you would have to step up to expensive BBS wheels. some people just like a custom look - i like the oem look.

Aftermarket wheels

I'm going to be patient and see what the RAC boys come up with. Probably in the $4k/set range and monoforged.
