I bought a car that was a "lemon" because it had a brake line leak at 600 miles. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the car now since it was fixed and I paid thousands less than I would have otherwise. Considering its out of warranty and I wont be selling it for a while, it made no difference to me. Now, looking at it from a practical point of view, I would be a bit worried as others have said of it becoming a huge pain in the ass and causing repeated issues down the line. Those electrical undiagnosable issues are very hard to pinpoint and It will most likely just sour your experience of ownership. I would pass.

No brakes, big problem. Probably what happened here. There are more lemon criteria http://www.dca.ca.gov/acp/pdf_files/englemn.pdf If you lose confidence in the safety of the car, BMW will not fight you if you want to give it back; but, you have to get close to lemon law territory, first. Whenever you bring your car in to get fixed under warranty, a clock starts running. You might call it the lemon clock. |
