I bought a car that was a "lemon" because it had a brake line leak at 600 miles. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the car now since it was fixed and I paid thousands less than I would have otherwise. Considering its out of warranty and I wont be selling it for a while, it made no difference to me. Now, looking at it from a practical point of view, I would be a bit worried as others have said of it becoming a huge pain in the ass and causing repeated issues down the line. Those electrical undiagnosable issues are very hard to pinpoint and It will most likely just sour your experience of ownership. I would pass.

How can the dealership/ some authorities determine a lemon title for a car with brake line leak? I don't see it's a huge problem to a car and they should have it fixed easily.

From California lemon law: it's a lemon, automatically, if: "The manufacturer or its agents have made two or more attempts to repair a warranty problem that results in a condition that is likely to cause death or serious bodily injury if the vehicle is driven."

No brakes, big problem. Probably what happened here. There are more lemon criteria http://www.dca.ca.gov/acp/pdf_files/englemn.pdf

If you lose confidence in the safety of the car, BMW will not fight you if you want to give it back; but, you have to get close to lemon law territory, first.

Whenever you bring your car in to get fixed under warranty, a clock starts running. You might call it the lemon clock.
