does all dealers give loaner for service?

Just sold my Mercedes...in the process of gettin a bimmer...question!

My ex-mercedes gets a loaner for service no matter which dealer I go to. What about BMW?

From what my salesman told me, you'll always get a loaner if you 1) purchased your car from them and 2) have made an appointment.

You can't always expect a loaner if you go to another dealer other than where you purchased and don't have a pre-arranged appointment. Makes sense . . .

I arranged an appointment with another dealer (Towne BMW @ Buffalo) and they would not give me a loaner. I'm kind of disappointed but I won't be here for much longer so I'm not worrying about it too much

PS. Going this tuesday for the software update!

This issue depends on the dealer. I checked this out before purchasing my car. At Prestige BMW in NJ, they will generally give loaners for scheduled appointments. In fact, when I needed to have a slotted dome light put in (for the motion detectors of the alarm), they came to my home to pick up the car. After the job was complete they brought the car back to me. They were originally planning on giving me a loaner while the car was in thier service department, but I didn't need one.

However, I have heard of some dealers ranging from no loaner car at all, to giving out Enterprise rentals, to giving you something close to what you normally drive (typically 3 or 5 series or X3).

I believe here they give loaners no matter where you got the car since many people are from up north and bought their cars in ct/ny/nj

In most dealers here they will give you a loaner given you have "reserved" one with them (even if you did not buy the car there). Of course, they have to make sure they have enough cars for everyone, hence the reservation requirement.

However, some dealers will even loan a Bimmer (with sometime a small premium), and the Lexus dealer near my place used to loan IS300's. The are some that will come and pick up your car and leave another one either at your place or your work place. Note however, that this is usually the sales rep own doing and you usually lose that priviledge once that sales rep leave the dealer. Some will only provide a "limousine" service.

Bottom line, I think it is a dealer thing and if that is important to you then shop your dealer as much as your car. The car you can easily find info on; dealers you have to search ...

Best of luck...

Global Imports in Atl will gives me a loaner w/scheduled and sometimes unscheduled/emergency appts. They also have an Enterprise office in their building which will handle any shortage of loaner cars.

I have an appointment next week to have my alarm installed at a dealer that I did not purchase the car or the alarm from. I’m just getting it installed by them. They said they can put me in a rental paid by them. They never asked me if I had purchased my car from them.
