My 2011 M3 ZCP base dyno runs..

Conditions:

75 deg. F.
15% relative humidity
30.8 Barometric pressure
5th gear
93 octane

1st 2 runs the car didn't want to rev past 8k rpm, we shut down the car for 5 minutes and ran it again, on the 3rd run it went to 8400rpm and it was the best run of the 3. On the first 2 runs, the car smelt very rich..I really wonder if the cats had lit off since the car sat for 30 minutes waiting for the dyno and the car wasn't in full boogie mode..on the 3rd run no such smell and it went to redline.

Run #3 in which the car went to redline..

All 3 runs..

BTW, a brand new 2011 Must. GT dyno'd ahead of me and ran a 371rwhp and 343ft/lbs of tq. completely stock down to the paper airfilter. My penis felt smaller for some reason...

I got an AFE Stg. 2 intake (the one that uses the stock airbox) and I will install it and drive around for a week or so and go test again to see what the gains (if any) are there. The dynos aren't cheap so I will probably just 2 more...one for the AFE and the other one when all the mods are done.

My plans are going with primary deletes and a tune, along with a underdrive pulley and the AFE Stage 2. I already own the AFE so we will see how it progresses...I will post it as it happens..where I posted it is a Mustang shop they didn't sell me anything other than the dyno time.

The mustang is a beast congrats to Ford for using some modern technology. Although BMW had a 5 litre v8 over a decade ago that produced similar power...

True..however the 5L motor that Ford has today is better than what the E39M5 had. Also, back in 1995..the last time Ford used the 5L V8..a fully loaded Mustang was $22k. If you look at the 4.6L V8 that Ford used up until recently, a 2005 Mustang Gt could be had for $25k..how much was a 04 E39 M5...over $60k.

I blend 3.5 gallons of VP Racing 101 Unleaded to 13 gallons of 91, it gets me to just a tad over 93 octane.

A site that shows places to get it..

PG, I was on bimmertech.org and I am a 6MT and dyno'd in 5th.

According to the 2011 M3 supplement I got, it specifically states that for maximum rated performance it is best to use 93 octane.

The difference between the US and Euro ratings is SAE vs. DIN.

I know you were joking and all but, if you even feel the slightest bit insecure over a dime-a-dozen mustang, you need a therapist, not an intake. Dude, you're driving a new M3....Snap out of it!!!!!!!!

Also, I doubt you'll get anything from the intake.

Do you have to go through the goofy button pushing/fuse pooling routine on the 92 like we did on the E46?

No you don't..just strap it on, hook up the tach and away you go. I remember I tired all the fuse pulling and such with my 04 E46 M3 6MT and it still wouldn't rev to 6500rpm without a GT1 tool.

You do get some ABS, Brake and other related warnings that go off..but as soon as you drive off they clear.

Actually, I like the new Mustang. Considered one before the M3...just to much of a change to go from an E46 M3 to a 07 997S to a E92 M3. If the interior was just a tad better with the Mustang...maybe. The new Mustang is no joke. The one that I will have my eye on is the 2013-14 Mustang. I went to the LA Autoshow and man..Ford is on a tear...the interior build quality of the new 2012 Ford Focus just blew me away for a $20K. I love my M3 tough..don't look back one second on my choice.

Kyoshi..nihonjn?

We shall see on the intake..I got it for a great deal and my E46 M3 saw gains with the AFE I had on that.

Thanks Dave. I actually got lucky on my 01. I ended up only having to hold down the DSC button for more than 30 seconds but less than a minute and I could run it on the dyno. I know others couldn't even get it to run properly with the abs, dsc, etc fuses pulled.

Funny how BMW built a car with less power to the ground than the new Mustang, yet it still beats it or matches it 0-60 and quarter mile. Big props though to Ford for their recent additions.

04 e39 m5 doesn't exist, but I'm just pointing out that it's about time American car companies come up with the power to match their displacement as foreign brands have been doing for years.
